Ulzzang Transformation

I'm Asian and like many (Asian) girls I like Korean culture and especially the beauty ideal of Korea very much!

I wrote this guide to share with you, but also in an attempt to create a community where everyone can help each other out
This is site is full of thoughtful personal tips, tricks and advise that I hope will help you to look like a Korean/ ulzzang.
With that said everything here is far away from a scientific work so please judge for yourself!

I hope you find some of the things helpful!

I always welcome advise, criticism, own experiences from you so please leave comments if there's anything bothering you or if you want to share something.
A place for every of your comments, questions, etc
UPDATES!!! Ruined my eyes writing 3 fashion posts (and that hairstyle post for you guys!!! Hope they are good for something!
Was too lazy to revise or check my writing in the end, so if you see some terribly embarassing spelling mistakes, yeah.. I really am that stupid!

I want to revamp the whole layout, add 2 posts about putting together an outfit and 'trends and staples', but not this lyfe man!
Oh yeah.. how do the new posts load? I know a shitload of pictures, but I don't compromise, pick up your wifi game!

  1. Clothes

    1. Tops

      Tee's

Oversized and drop shoulder tees a very popular. You wear them tucked in, best into a high-waisted bottom, but the look also works with bottom that sit lower.
The sleeves are quite long, til the elbows or even longer.
Because of the massive size of these tees, they look better with a print so it looks less bare.

If you want to add more shape to such tees you can easily roll up the sleeves a bit.

Of course tighter tees are also part of the ulzzang wardrobe. Ringer tees and stripes are very popular these days - not only in Korea.

      Sweats

The same rules apply to sweatshirts and hoodies.
Basic print design like 'University of whatever' have a vintage, smart vibe and look very laid back and cool, especially when they are oversized.

In order to structure your outfit and create a nice silhouette, tuck it into your pants

    2. Bottoms

Obviously plain, long skinny jeans are the ulzzang fashion item. The colour doesn't really matter - although denim blues are of course the most iconic.

      Jeans

Even without a lengthy thigh gap, skinny jeans make a look more ulzzang. It's the mood that it sets that counts.

A trend item that I've only found in Korea are baggy, denim shorts with a rolled up hem. My friend calls them nappy shorts, because there used to be really big models.
The point about these shorts is that they should be lose around the thighs, a bit like bloomers (see picture on the bottom right), but tight at the waist and hems.

      Skirts

Tight/ straight denim skirts are a stable in the ulzzang wardrobe, they are feminine
and not too girly and look casual and cool.

The most popular length is about knee length or shorter and they come either with or without a front button border.

Tennis skirts are slowly starting their triumph this spring.
I believe it started with America Apparel launching their version.
They look girly (fore Korean standards) because they are flared, but then again they are undeniably sporty.
You can wear them with a top tucked in, but if you let your top cover it, it will have a nice understated Japanese school girl sexy feeling.

If you are look for ulzzang dresses, I must disappoint you.
I feel that dresses aren't really a thing Koreans warmed up to too much. Somehow the
dresses I see tend to be a statement, special piece of clothing rather than something
you'd just throw over on a daily basis.
      That's why I won't include any here.

    3. Outer

Koreans like to cover up with bulky, oversized, boxy items.
They create an interesting silhouette and emphasized skinny legs.

That's why bomber jackets, jeans jackets and biker jackets are the most common designs.
