As you all surely have noticed ulzzangs and kpop stars are super super skinny.
Although Western beauty idols like models are equally skinny, I kind of find ulzzangs live it up more...
Being skinny is really one of the core points of the ulzzang look.
So it's quite a big deal.
Every now and then you will find articles about idols who are criticized and praised for their lean bodies, long legs, etc or about diet secrets which idols share with their fans. Idols also often privately share their concerns about food on instagram. You see that as a public figure it is very important for them to always look 'perfect'.

Weight
Now we don't want to hide from the truth here. They are all underweight.
The average BMI of the 'street models' I have listed in this post is something around 16.8 (underweight is less than 18.5).
And I think it's the same for idols.
(Of course in order to defend them, you could argue that Asian women are shorter and have a lighter frame than women else where, but the BMI chart is pretty much the same in most countries - including in Asia.)
In fact many Korean girls say that anything above 50kg/ 110lbs is fat. Even taller girls (170cm/ 5' 7") want to stick to that rule and have a 4 as the first number one the scale.
With that said, being skinny is everything, which means try to be skinny!
I know that this beauty ideal is quite harmful as it carries the risk of pushing girls into anorexia and all that stuff. And I can imagine that there are really many many anorexic girls in Korea and that many ulzzangs must be (secretly) affected, too.
I can only tell you guys to take care of yourself and be critical. When you are seeing a picture of a skinny girl, ask yourself if it's still pretty or just super thin. Observe how your own definition of 'the right amount of skinniness' develops (I'm pretty sure it will change/ has changed).
You need to be aware of the fact that there's a difference between being underweight and liking your weight and wanting to maintain it and -
constantly wanting to lose more and more, hating yourself because of your weight (whatever that weight is), loving bones which stick out of your body, etc.

Disclaimer:
I have added statistical values where in any way possible, but those have a very limited validity, since 2 or 5 individual values are really not that much. Still, because many of you seem to be unsure about a good ulzzang weight for their height, I thought these might be a bit helpful for you all.
Also you can see that the weights for each height can be quite apart from each other and that often shorter models are heavier than taller ones and vice versa. So the weight is really only vague reference point, it is better to look at your body shape or clothes sizes.

Even though facts are like that, idols and ulzzangs are not just sticks. They still have their curves (as much curves as Asians can force) and especially now with all the sexy concepts of girl groups we see how boobs and butts are valued despite having a thigh gap, visible collar bones are nice, skinny ankles (very popular features!).
Personally, I don't mind weighing a few kg/ pounds less, I am consciously not giving a f*ck about my health concerning that aspect, also because I don't think it will affect my health that much. For others it must sound terrible, for me it's nothing more than eating a lot of unhealthy food, sleeping on a bad matress, have eczema etc.
This is how I think about it. I don't want to promote or defend my way of thinking, but want to give you an example of how you can want to be underweight without having an unhealthy mindset (depending on where 'unhealthy' starts for you).
What I am saying is, be skinny, don't be too skinny, know what you are doing/ hold your horses, idols and ulzzangs are not too skinny, too!!
And remember, the goal is to look pretty, not skinny. Although those two are linked to a certain extend, they are not the same.

Height
On to height, which seems to be a real issue for many readers.
Did you know that Koreans are the tallest among (East?) Asians? The guys are so tall.....
Can't say the same about the girls, though... Look at the tables I have posted. I think the average height of Korean girls is something around 164cm/ 5' 4.5". As for idols, I guess it's about the same.
Yes, there are many girl group members nowadays which are taller and surely the trend is to be tall (as elsewhere in the world), but I don't think that too many girls in Korea hit the 170cm/ 5' 7" mark.
Many of you are worrying about not being tall enough and whilst I understand that being less than 160cm/ 5'3" is quite disaffecting, I wouldn't say that your height is that important for an ulzzang look.
I would say that your body proportions are much more important.
It is obvious that long, skinny legs are the main point of attraction when you look at the pictures.
I know that girls who are short often feel bad about their short legs, but as I said it's all about the proportions. If you are short, but have slender legs/arms you will still look tall (on pictures at least) and that is what counts.
And you can wear high heels.
I have seen many pictures of skinny woman under 160cm/ 5'3" and they still look bomb only because they are skinny enough. So don't worry, it's not such a big deal - you don't really see much mentions about idol heights, right? that is because - it's also a waste of energy and time to worry about a thing which you can hardly influence.
Sounds bitter, but it's really true.

A third and last thing about ulzzang bodies that I'd like to address is the recent trend towards 'real' boobs and butts.
Back in the days, spaghetti tops were modeled wearing t-shirts underneath and now you see idols showcasing their crotch on camera.
Time changes, Korea gets more and more in touch with the Western world and now S-shape is more important than ever.
If you didn't know, S-shape is how a female body is shaped like.
From the upsurge of girl band's sexy concept and the appearance of cleavage and super short mini skirts in Korean clubs and online shopping sites (that is already porn!) I can easily tell that boob jobs have a boom in Korean right now (literally!).
Well most Asians aren't blessed with those things unfortunately, so unless you want to get breast implants, too , it's also a waste of time and effort to feel down because you don't have a C-cup...

I am happy to answer any of your questions in the comments, but also like to reference to my weight-loss post, which should answer general questions like 'how do I lose weight?'.
It would be best to read that and post specific questions there.
Actually, Asian girls tend to have petite, shortish body frames. That's why they can weigh that much and not look anorexic, but "slender" and "delicate". The western/American BMI calculator shouldn't apply to Asians since its aimed towards medium to large boned people. What would be healthy for a small framed person isn't healthy for a larger frame size.....
ReplyDeleteI am at 161cm and weigh 42kg. I have a pretty skinny body but not that anorexic since I've got some fats too. My legs are similar to ulzzangs if not better. But one thing is, I've got pretty bad skin. I'm tanned and my skin is quite dry, they certainly do not feel smooth either. What should I do?
DeleteHey Sheryl,
Deletetry to avoid the sun as much as possible. This can't turn you into Michael Jackson, but it's at least something!
Being tanned is not toooo bad if you have the right attitude. There are more and more tanned idols out there nowasays (Hyorin, Jessi, etc) and also idols/ ulzzangs aren't really that white either.
It's often just the light of photoshop !^^
As for your skin, find a good moisturizer and apply it regularly. Also use mild peelings from time to time!
xxx
hmm you could be right about that... it might be that Asians have lighter bones... so they can have BMIs which would be considered as anorexic by Western standards...
ReplyDeletethen again each 'weight class' has a range of BMI values so the different body types were taken into consideration I guess... at least I think that the BMI system isn't completely off for Asian girls, I should also mention that Koreans are the tallest in East Asia, so many girls are up to 170cm (or taller) tall...
but thanks for your comment, I will add your thought into this post when I rewrite it (someday - when I have time~)
I just noticed that some things are absolutely obsolete already and terrible spelling mitakes wtf
omg I'm going to sound like such an old person but I can't figure out how to make an original comment > . <
DeleteHahaha
DeleteI just checked and are you on your phone?
It seems to be quite impossible on mobile browsers (somehow the comment form seems to be cut off~)
Just switch to 'desktop view' and scroll to the very bottom ㅋㅋ
Could you list the measurements of the models in the American/Western measurements? Like shoe size, weight in pounds, height in feet and inches, etc.?
ReplyDeleteok will try to add those sometime this week! thanks !^^
Deletei have the exact same body shape of the pictures above, but im like 5'8 and im 128lbs
DeleteOk... I would be a "fat" ulzzang because I´m 1.50 exactly and I weight 43 kg....
ReplyDeleteYa... Im 161-163 and weigh 44-45kg. but right now since i just ate, i weigh 46... TT
DeleteI'm 163 inches and weigh 107 pounds yet my body does not look anything like that.. Do you know why?
ReplyDeleteYou have perfect body, you have perfect height and weight for me. My height 162 and my weight 95 ponds :'(
DeleteI'm 161cm and 92 pounds :(
DeleteWhattt i'm 160 and 107 lbs :c and i'm still growing
Deleteuhm are your arms flabby, do you have a belly, when you stand with your feet right next to each other which parts of your legs (thighs) are touching? do people call you skinny/ normal or nothing at all/ chubby?
ReplyDeleteif people call you normal, don't make any comments about your weight, or skinny I don't think there's any need to worry
even if you aren't as skinny as the girls in the pictures, it just has to do something with your body (bone structure, your weight could be mostly stored as fat while you don't have much muscles, you could be bloated etc idk the body is very complicated after all)
I don't like to suggest it, but to be fair I should point out that the 'street models' tend to be even skinnier than you, so if you really wanted to look more like those... but assuming that you are 'normal' girl, without any metabolic problems whatsoever, I think your weight is ok as it is. (if you still want to lose weight the absolute minimum you should go for is 95 lbs I would say~)
but if you look quite chubby I would go see a doctor and have him advise you
I am no specialist after all and everything I say are just personal opinions or experiences
lastly it is maybe important to mention that at least in former times they used to photoshop the girls' legs to be longer thus appearing skinnier... I don' think they do it anymore, but I'm also note sure!
also I think they are cheating a bit with their weight and height as I find those data often fluctuation around 1 or 2 units
ok that's if with my ridiculously long answer, whatever you decide to do, never be anorexic, it's uncool Haha
I'm 157 cm tall and my weight is 50 kg. Should I loose more weight?
ReplyDeletehaha you guys are cute!
DeleteI'd like to say that even if there was some ulzzang science and even if I had studied it I wouldn't tell anyone what they should do and what not.
one of the reasons is that I respect (almost) every person's personal decisions and principles, so you should ask yourself, how 'very ulzzang' you want to look, is weight or body shape very important to you? if you think about it you might find a personal answer to yourself or realize about how far you want to go.
but since you asked me I am more than happy to answer. comparing your data with those above and my own perception (which is below standard haha) I dare to say yes. Because I can't see how you look like, it's very hard to answer or to provide an exact weight, so I don't feel 100% comfortable with my answer.
Generally I think a minimum weight of 42kg (which means a BMI of 17.0 for you, whereas lower than 18.5 is underweight) is something that I consider to be drastic, but can still recommend with a clear conscience. Still I could imagine a lower body weight for you, but also that you look quite skinny already...
I'm 169 cm tall and my weight is about 51 kg.. Should I lose weight?
Deletehmm this is a bit tricky because I guess you are quite skinny already
Deletemy answer also depends on how 'very ulzzang' you want to be~
based on your BMI which is 17.9 I'd say if I were you I'd try to lose 2kg more (w/o overexerting myself though haha) to be 49kg, because I haven't seen anyone above 50kg... but it's not really absolute necessary~
if for some reason people wouldn't describe you as skinny, then I'd say you 'should' lose 2kg more~
Hello, I'm 152.4 cm tall and weigh 68.9kg. Do you have any idea how much weight should I lose? Thanks.
ReplyDeleteI think you should try to lose about 24kg~ Then you'll weigh around 45kg.
DeleteAfter that you can see if you are happy with how your body looks or go further and lose 5kg more~ (which then would be more 'ulzzang standard').
Tbqh it's hard for me to answer when people asking me about their weight are shorter or taller than the average online shopping model, who are always about 165cm tall.
Because logically, shorter people can't weight the same as taller people and still have the same body proportions.
That is way I could imagine you to weigh below 40kg and still be fine. I just don't really want to tell anyone to weigh so little, because that'd be sailing very close to the wind~ (I do know of short people who weigh 38kg and they are absolutely normal looking though)
So yeah start out with 45.. and see how you like the result. If you aren't completely satisfied try to gradually lose a bit more until you like it!
Thank you very much for your advice~ I'll work hard on it, of course nothing that will stress my body out haha ^_^". I'll also consult a nutritionist to help me on reaching this goal.
Deletegood luck!! xxx
DeleteHi I'm 152cm and weight 48kg. How much kg should i lose?
ReplyDeleteAnd do you know what exercises would get you slim legs quite quick in around 6 months because I have bulky legs (not really that bulky but it's not slim like ulzzang and kpop idols) and I run for around 30 minutes and 5 times a week but I'm not seeing that much of a difference but instead it makes my legs kinda bulkier (or is it I have to wait, I've done it for a week and I do eat healthy)
So ye if you can please help me out...My aim would be around 162cm and 46kg. THANK YOU
Hi, well the BMI of 162/46 would be 17.5, which means that for your height a weight of 40 (BMI 17.3) or 41 (BMI 17.7) would result in a similar value... of course it also depends on your body shape... but I guess sth around 40-41 would be a good reference point
Deleteas for your legs, I find that bulky legs often mean that you have many muscles down there and not really much fat (is that your case?)
in order to shrink those muslces or prevent further growth one shouldn't do any activities or work-out exercises that involve much weight, but instead should work longer but with less weight
as for jogging, far/long(?) distance running usually builds up muscles (as every athletic activity), but those are actually lean and smooth (as opposed to fat). I think you might build up some muscles because your body reacts to the new situation and starts to keep up with it so that your running is more effective.
Muscles shrink and grow quite immediate and fast according to the situation. When you haven't done much sports before maybe your body is a bit over-enthu and thus puts on a bit much?
If you 'always' had bulky, muscular legs I think it's because your body just genetically tends to have strong leg muscles. To provide a remedy I would try to avoid any activity that really strain your legs.
E.g. climbing stairs - do you have a feeling that this is sort of overly tiring out your legs? (I don't mean that it's exhausting in general, like when sb can't breath after walking upstairs) Or that you unconsciously strain your leg muscles although you actually don't need to?
I'm not an expert in any way, but I find this for me a useful explanation for (partly) why some people have really distinct calves although they don't seem to do any sports.
Well what I actually wanted to say (yeah this has to be the longest answer) you should observe your legs/ body to find out if you strain your legs unnecessarily on a daily basis. This isn't easy, but we all have to learn to listen to your body !^^ Even walking in heels for example (or walking mostly on the balls of your feet, which some do unconsciously), strains the calves more than walking in flats.
And when you go jogging, don't try to run like a champ or frantically 'better your weaker self' and try to get as much out of the 30 min as possible and burn 10000 of calories (haha), but instead run for a longer time, be relaxed and go easy while being mindful of your body. Don't run uphill. And not only when you jog, but everytime you move your legs do it consciously.
Another thing you could do is stretching, as it will lengthen your muscles.
Yah, I think that's it. I hope what I wrote was comprehensible and that I could help you a bit! If sth is unclear please ask again! I wish you all the best! xx
Thank you this answer reslly helped me ^^
DeleteAs for the jogging, I would do running for 30 minutes and walking for 15 minutes and losing around 150 calories overall. I know this is not much but with this kind of speed it doesn't tiredy legs out. So I'm currently working on it with this kind of speed and I'm also combining alot of stretching into my workout. Thank you for the advice :)
Calculate your BMR http://www.bmi-calculator.net/bmr-calculator/ and than eat less calories than that. (Just a little maybe 100 less or something) and keep doing excersise. This will definitely help you lose weight. Just remember to eat a balanced meal with few Trans fats and just eat healthy fats found in fruits and in vegetables. Also if your thighs are growing ( although it might be just you, you could measure them to see if they are actually getting bigger ) it's okay because running makes your thighs leaner on the sides and muscle growth makes your thighs bigger on top.
DeleteI'm 14 y/o , 164.5 cm and weight (sadly) around 54kg. i know i'm obese but everybody around me tell me that i'm skinny, even my mom's friend that never saw me before. I do have thigh gaps, flat stomach and all so why do i have such a weight? Do i have to workout? And is it okay to workout when i'm in my period? Thank you so much :)
ReplyDeleteoh god no, you are not obese!! in what kind of universe would you be obese?! if anything you are normal weight!!
DeleteYour BMI is 20.0, overweight starts at 25.0 and obese start at 30(!), underweight on the other hand starts at 18.5~ so no, you are definitely not obese! (repeat after me, 'not obese' !^^)
and since you have a thigh gap it's only natural that everyone is calling you skinny, and in those cases it is better to believe the majority, because what the majority believes is true!! (what I mean is, if you were skinny, but everyone said you were obese, your skinniness would mean nothing~)
ok so why are 'still' 4kg above 50? well every body is different, your bones could be heavy, your brain could be !^^
there could be so many reasons, and to be honest with you being 50+ is actually normal, if you aren't a crazy ullzang !^^
so you definitely worry too much about your weight if you see it as the ultimate indication of skinniness, it is better to judge based on your clothes size (ideal is S, XS and XXS).
on to working out. everyone should work out. it is very good for mental and physical health. Having a thigh gap means you are already skinny, yet you say you are obese, I wonder if your environment knows about this?
If yes they might start to worry about you, if you additionally start to work out. That is why I would start really relaxed, going for a run or doing some exercises at home (w help of youtube? check out ->blogilates). There is really no need to rush! If you think you like exercising then you could start to go the gym regularly !^^
And it's totally ok to work out when you on your period, just make sure nth leaks hahaha
Ok and last but not least, you are still young. Your body will change until you finally grow up, and since your body seems to be quite ok, there's no need to overthink things. Eat healthy, sleep healthy, live healthy and you should be fine. I do not say that you can't lose any weight, I know I say anything over 50 is a mortal sin according to ulzzang-ism, but we have to be critical and make conscious choices!!
I mentioned that your friends/ family could worry about you, but in fact, I'm also a bit worried. Because you are quite young it is easier for you to be influenced and you are more prone to fall into the 'pro-ana, bones are beautiful, bla bla'-trap. Young people just hype more. What I don't want you to do is blindly following the 'rules', but you should know that for example, with your height 49kg is definitely underweight. You can care or not, but you definitely have to be aware of that.
Lastly, since you are young you might still be growing, it is maybe better to focus on eating healthy so that you can be taller !^^ Height is something even ulzzangs can not cheat, so it might be wise to concentrate on that. If you are finally grown-up you can still lose weight if you want, but you cannot chose to grow !^^ Also don't overdo weight training, it is not good for a young body, do more cardio stuff !^^
I know I wrote much, but that is because I worry a bit and I absolutely want to prevent anybody from starting to have twisted ideas about weight, or one's own body, etc or get some mental illness or eating disorders.
Ok, so stay healthy!! I hope my answer was some sort of useful (if not, ask again !^^) xxx
Oh my, i dunno you'll be worry and write such a loong answer. (Sorry my english :p). Thankyou so much for your advices, i dunno but i feel a lot better now. Tee-hee. 'Not obese' (repeating after you)
DeleteYea my family often worry about me and say something like what you said, like "you're still young and dieting is no good for your age cause it'll just make you stop grow taller bla bla bla" and "it's okay to have such a weight as long as you don't look fat, anyway maybe it's just your big bone though" and my mom even angry these days whenever i say that my calves bigger and my shoulder wider than any other girls. I'm such a bad kid -.-
And because my mom didn't allow me to diet so i think i'll just work out and eat less snack, more veggies and fruits. Thanks again 😄
ah really 54kg is nothing in the real world!! your family should also not think that it's kinda weird or so (as I said your BMI is as normal as it gets!)
Deletewell everyone has those times when they think 'oh my calves are big' or 'my face is too puffy' etc those times come and go !^^
but your mother is right, since you are so young it is better to put your energy into other things like studying (hahaha)
I think it might be fun to start dancing? or join a sports team at your school? those kind of activities are kinda ullzang-ish haha
Yeah, maybe i'll start dancing :D thankyou haha
DeleteI know this is pretty late, but i just came across this blog, and its great! I am 14 and is 158cm tall and weighs 48kg, i consider myself chubby. What would you say would be the ideal weight for my height and can you please give me some advice on how to have longer slender legs? Please. Thankyou
ReplyDeletehey! (late?)
Deleteyour BMI as of now is 19.2 which is rather on the underweight side, than overweight (and my BMI had been higher and I and ppl I know never considered myself chubby xD) so I dare to disagree with you, you are not chubby (? !^^)
since you are only 14 and I guess you will still grow, I don't think it makes much sense if you diet too much, because it is better to use all the stored energy inside your body to grow !^^ but if you are feeling uncomfortable with your weight, I'd say you could diet down to 45kg (which is already underweight btw). If then you still don't like it, you might try to go even lower gradually, but as I said, it is better to grow. Later on, if you want to grow you can't, but you can always lose weight !^^ (if you do want to know what I guess is the ideal weight for your height as a grown-up person message me again)
as for longer legs, I guess the only thing to do is stretching! If you will really do it daily for maybe an hour or so, I think it can transform your legs. I don't know how helpful it really is, but well, since JYP uses stretching to lengthen his trainees, I guess it must help at least a bit.
and slender legs? dieting and moderate exercise! if your legs are too muscular, I answered one question concerning bulky legs above.
generally, if you think your legs are not long enough, don't worry! Ulzzangs/ idols aren't automatically blessed with long legs, the key is to be skinny, which automatically make your legs appear very long. if you additonally were higher shoes, the actual length of your legs won't matter anymore.
I hope my answer was kinda helpful? For girls who are still young and still going through puberty it is better to focus on growing than being really skinny. You should eat healthy and exercise from time to time! Then if you are an adult and find yourself not skinny enough, can still lose weight!
Being 161 cm and weighing 50 kg, how many kgs should I lose ?
ReplyDeletethere are a few 161/162 (honestly 1cm doesn't make a difference) models listed.
Deletetheir weight is a good start.
I'm 168cm and 55kg, i want to lose weight and i'm actually in diet, do you have any advice for me ?
ReplyDeleteweight loss-wise?
Delete- I think it help to drink a lot, really a lot of water (and if that's getting too dull then tea) it really makes you feel full so you won't eat that much
and in the morning it helps to boost your metabolism so you use up more energy (= fat)
- many people claim that low-carb diet helps them a lot so I'd do that
- another thing is to stay at places where you normally don't eat much.
for some they always eat when they are outside (and meet-up with friends who buy food)
for me it's when I'm at home and bored, but outside not so much
- exercise! either do strength training to build up muscles (those new muscles will consume energy even if you don't exercise, thus you will lose more weight)
or stuffs like aerobic, they are a good mixture of strength and cardio (just cardio isn't soo effective for weight-loss)
- stay strong!! haha even the crappiest diet would work if one'd never give up halfway!
good luck!!!! x
First of all, oh my goodness I love your ulzzang transformation blog so much!! \( ^o^)/ All the writing is so detailed and so easy to follow! But enough about my love for your blogpost XD So I'm really, really short and my problem is that when I gain even just a little bit of weight, it definitely shows on my body especially on my face *sad face*. Before I go any further and end up rambling about my delema, my height is about 4' 10" (147 cm) and my current weight is... 120 lbs (55 kg)... *cries*. I used to actually be really skinny due to my background in competitive figure skating. My metablolism has always been pretty slow so in order to compensate, I dieted. At age 11, I noticed that my body was not at the normal figure skater's ideal body. Being about 4' 4" (132 cm), the weight always had a way of showing up on my body whether it's my stomach, my face, or even worse, my legs. I stopped dieting when I quit competitive skating and ALL the weight I lost piled back on within a matter of months. When I started tennis at age 13, I had to eat in order to keep up with the demanding schedule and workouts. While I did gain muscle, I most certainly gained what I call fat. I did this for two years and quit at my current age which is 15. After several months with no sports of any sort, the muscle I gained literally morphed into fat and now I have these disgusting jelly legs and a pudding stomach ( T~T). Like I said before, I'm now 4' 10" (147 cm) and 120 lbs (55 kg). So to sum all of my babbling up, how on earth can I get to my ideal weight? To add to my several questions, because I'm extremely short, what should be the absolute lowest weight I should be? What can I do to get there and is it even possible for me to look like an ulzzang despite my small stature?
ReplyDeleteHeys, thanks for your lovely comment! It makes me very happy to hear that my writing is well accessible/ comprehensible.
DeleteThe detailedness you mention is certainly owed to my 'detail-OCD' haha
well, as I said in the post, I think being an ulzzang isn't too strongly connect to body height, so yes you can!
once skinny enough every body will look great !^^
I think the absolute, really absolute lowest weight for your height would be something around 72.75lbs (33kg)~
But if I were your height I'd aim for 77.16lbs/ 35kg first. If then my body proved to be very 'skinny looking- resistant' I'd gradually try to lose 4.4lbs/ 2kg more...
However, in your case, you might still grow (am saying this again and again) so it is not the wisest thing to be the lowest possible. A better idea would be to save some fats/ energy for your body to use it to grow.... So maybe something around 81.57lbs/ 37kg is better... (which is still skinny, so no worries~ I actually know of sb with about the same measures)
And about weight-loss, didn't you successfully diet during your figure skating days? (figure skating rocks btw, sounds v Korean haha) Can't you follow the same/ similar diet as back then?
Anyway, because you said you gained weight and muscles when you played tennis, I think maybe you ate the wrong things? So as a start I'd try to radically eat clean
- no unhealthy, totally processed kind of sweets/ drinks/ junk food
- cut as much carbs as you can, eat many (mostly) vegetables and less beef/ pork, but more stuffs like chicken, etc.
- drink a lot of water, in the morning to boost your metabolism and generally so your stomach will feel full all the time and you don't become hungry so fast
- do some sort of sports. I think you put in quite a lot of effort in your sports which is really awesome. This time maybe you should pick sth which isn't so competitive or sth that you purely want to pursue as a hobby. So you can do it for a long time without quitting.
If that's still too much commitment, then maybe dancing or things like aerobic, tae bo, etc are more suitable. Maybe you are still to young for a gym membership, but there are quite useful youtube trainers (> blogilates) you could try out.
Building up muscles is really useful, too, because those will burn (more) energy all the time, even when you do nothing
- eat less. maybe not the best thing to tell a young girl, but well it's the secret to weight loss
what I like to do is to replace my meals with smoothies. You can use any sort of blender (also hand blenders). Just take low-fat milk or soy/rice milk any fruits or vegetables (well nearly any) and mix them together (there are 1000s recipes out there, but mostly I just use fruits I like)
Those are normally really filling (especially when they are very thick) but low in calories.
I hope I could help you a bit, but I'm a bit unsure where your problem lies haha Have you tried to diet recently and it didn't work or did you just generally wanted to hear my oppinion~ !^^
Generally when we implement more activities and less food into our lives we will see results! Believe it and do it! It will work haha
good luck!! xx
I think 77 pounds is too light for 4'10". I think something around 85 would be much more attainable and reasonable~
DeleteMuscle doesn't "morph" into fat. That is biologically impossible. That's like saing my skin morphed into a lung -- yea impossible. Let's be honest; you're just eating wayyyy more than you need to. That's it. There's no magical secret you have to unlock; just stop eating so much!
DeleteI'm apologize for not specifying... Due to my inactivity, I lost the muscle I gained throughout training and ended up gaining fat. Of course I know that muscle cannot morph into fat but metaphorically speaking, I used the term in order to put a significant amount of emphasis on my struggle to lose weight. I wrote the original comment exactly four months ago and I'm happy to say that I've cut down on eating ( ^^) I was in a state of panic seeing the scale rising up so I looked to this blog for help. Thank you to Aling Chu for helping me! ( ^^)
DeleteHeys again!
DeleteThanks for coming back to update on your progress! I'm glad you are doing better!! xxx
As for the person commenting on 17th Sep, I published that comment solely because I want to be fair to everyone and let everyone voice their opinion.
Though obviously that comment is pretty pointless as that person wasn't even able to read and understand your simple and evident metaphor (if you are reading this, no offence) and thus didn't comment very relevantly.
Hello again! Thank you so, so much for your reply! I really wanted to hear someone else's honest opinion rather than other people I see on a daily basis who tell me "You're fine the way you are" XD It's definitely true that I could always go back to my figure skating diet. During my skinnier days, I strictly ate only fruits and vegetables which seemed like the best diet for me due to my slow metabolism. I've tried countless times after those days to go back on the diet but it seems like my overall mindset to lose weight isn't as strong as before. But I think now that I have another person's thoughts on my problems taken into account, I think I'll have a better time trying to lose weight! All in all, I think that you had a hard time figuring out my problem just because of the several smaller problems I have. I do want to thank you for giving me your advice though! I'm really glad you took the time to answer to quickly as well! I'm going to be continuing to follow your blogposts faithfully and continue reading everything ( ^^)/ So, again, thank you so much for your advice! Perhaps I'll comment on here or other posts in the near future hahaha ( ^^)
ReplyDeleteI'm glad I could inspire you a bit!
DeleteAnd I hope you will stay inspired (through my blog or elsewhere) in the future !^^
as for this blog.... I don't update too often I'm afraid haha
but at the moment I have more time and as I started it in order for girls like us to mutually inspire and share with each other, comments like yours make me want to add more contents quickly hehe
so thank you too! xx
Hi! First of all, I'm loving your blog, it really helped me a lot! Though may I ask you something? Haha, I'm 14 years old and my weight ranges from 54-56 kgs. (Makes me sad) and my height is 5'2 in ft. I'm chubby right? I know I should lose (?) some weight, how much kg do you think I should lose? And another thing is that my legs are really fat (lol), and I think it's not bulky but a fatty fat since I don't think my legs being fat isn't genetic, and it's not bulky since I'm not doing any heavy workout or sports. Well, I've done badminton last year for 7 months I think? And my training is not that stressful. Actually I'm dancing too, but its not a hobby or a thing I done regularly I just dance when I'm in mood and it's not enough to make my legs firm right? Let's say I dance for 1 times a week? And I hardly finish a whole song. Haha! What advice can you give to somewhat get rid of those fats? And also! My face is very puffy! Huhuhu, I don't know what to do. It's clearly fat and not muscles. Can you give some advice here too? Or the fats in my face would gradually bid it's goodbye when I start to lose weight?
ReplyDeleteSorry, if it's long. I hope you can help with this, thanks in advance!
Hey,
Deletesry for suuuuuuper late reply~
I think I have replied to a girl w similar height before. Maybe sth around 42kg would be good (could be lower, could be higher though, you will know by yourself once you lose a bit of weight).
But as I'm telling everyone who is still going to through puberty, you shouldn't try to lose weight too harshly as it might interfere with your growth (and overall health)
I don't think there exists any way to lose fat at specific parts of the body (someone correct me if I'm wrong).
you will eventually lose all of your fats, also the ones in your face !^^
some may be more stubborn than others (but some disappear pretty fast, it's different with everyone), but they will all melt away in the end, so don't worry!!! !^^

Hi, I'm 14 . I'm very short 4'7, I weigh 120 pounds. How much should I lose? I have thunder thighs and i want nice legs and a flat stomach... any tips on what to eat and how to stay motivated? Thanks for this post btw!
ReplyDeleteHey,
Deletesince you are so short I think it's v likely for you to still grow (unless your whole family is kinda short?)
Try sth around 90 lbs at first (?) I'm really not sure since you are really much shorter than most heights I'm used to.... and because I think you will still grow !^^
I have wrote another post about weight loss, etc you might want to check that out and post any remaining questions under that post ya? !^^
as for staying motivated... I don't know... I think a good thing is to eliminate everything that messes with your diet like friends who like to eat, buying too much sweets, etc. At least that works for me !^^

*************TO THE GIRL WHO WROTE THIS:*************
ReplyDeletehi..i am 170cm and weight 54kg...and have medium bone building...do you think that i should lose weight?
*************I accidently deleted your comment and will reply to you tomorrow! SORRY!!*************
ok once again sorry.... I hope you are reading this... I wanted to publish your comment and accidently hit the delete button... after that your comment was gone, but I still had a copy of it e-mailed to me....
Deleteanyway
I don't think you 'should' do anything.... I can only tell you about what I think are your possibilities, which are:
- stay as you are if you're happy with how your body looks like. you are tall enough to justify a 50+ weight
- want to be a really desperate ulzzang or ain't happy? lose 5 - 10kg and I still wouldn't judge you
Imho I guess you are quite skinny, so losing weight isn't really that pressing. Maybe you could try out to lose kg by kg just to see how that changes your body and then see if you like the result?
I mean without really trying to lose weight/ reach a certain goal, but just to give it a try. If you are uncomfortable with your weight/ body that is.
Hope that helped and once again sorry! xx
Hello~ your blog is super helpful!! I wanted to get your opinion - I weigh 88 pounds (40 kg) and 5 feet (152.4. cm) tall. My waist is 22, but my thighs are 18 inches. Would you say that I'm at a proportionate to be an ulzzang?
ReplyDeleteHeya,
Deleteyou get a 'yes' for having a quite ulzzang-ish BMI! (underweight, what more could one want? hahaha)
okay joking aside, I'm unfortunately not really knowledgeable regarding circumfences or I could give you a better answer than 'I don't know' concerning your waist and thighs
what I can say though is, the key word here is 'thigh gap'. if you have that than you have the proportion of an ulzzang I guess. (as for waist, I think you have reach the 'right amount of skinniness' when your belly doesn't move much inwards when you suck in air as hard as you can... that's my personal weird rule !^^)
hope that somehow answers your question?
Oh my gosh, thank you so much~~ You're so quick with replying hehe c: I hope you have a lovely day <333
Deleteyou too!!! thanks xxx
DeleteHello~ I'm 15years old, girl. I am 172cm (5'7") tall and I weigh 64kg (141 pounds). Can you give me any advise on how to lose weight (like diet&exercise) >_< And how much do you think I should lose? I have quite big thighs and stomach. I know I am fat but I really want to lose weight and feel pretty ._. Please help me •﹏•
ReplyDeleteLots of love,
S (^ω^ )
Hey S,
DeleteI have written a post w pretty much all I have to say about weight loss (navigation is on the top right-ish)
And I know of a girl who is 172 and weights 47kg.. pretty thin, but still ok... I think that's like a bottom limit for your height. So lose as much as you want, but not more than 17kg.
I think 54kg would also be fine.
Your fats will vanish when you have lost weight so cheer up! And prettiness is not only about skinniness !^^
I'm sure there are other thing about you that are already pretty !!
xxx
Hiii ♡
DeleteI just saw your other posts (sorry >_< i was on my phone earlier and didn't see them) and they're really helpful!
I already lost 3kg so hopefully I will get to 54kg (fighting!)
Andd thank you so much for replying (^-^) you're awesome and i really love your blog <3 xxxx
Lots of love,
S
3kg!!
Deletefighting!!!
I think 3kg already feels quite different haha like pants and stuff are already somewhat loser !^^
glad that you like the posts! you are awesome, too!^^ thanks for the nice comment!

Hello! I'm about 152 cm and weigh about 40.5 kg. Would you consider this to be ulzzang-like? I feel like my legs are big blehhhhhh
ReplyDeletehaha first of all sry for the late reply... I was away !^^
DeleteI think your BMI is quite ullzang-like?
Your weight should be ok~ Do you have a thigh gap or not? If yes, then your legs are definitely not big.
If no, then that still doesn't mean they are too big.
If you really think so, I would exercise or eat healthier instead of dieting if I were you, cuz your BMI is already underweight.
Have a great day! xxx
Hello!! i'm 14 years old, 160cm tall and weigh 67kg.
ReplyDeleteMy goal : 165-167, 50. My legs are so big XC. So do my arms..
Can you help me??n
I play basketball at least once a week. And cycle to school and i'm from Indonesia
Please reply!
Heys,
DeleteI wrote another post about weight loss, I guess that will help you?
Since you are quite active, I would think about what you normally eat. Is it rather much, many snacks or unhealthy things?
Or what else could be the reason?
And are your legs/ arms big because of fat or muscles?
I think it's good that you are so sporty and I would continue with basketball and cycling in any case if I were you!
So yeah, try to think about any possible reason for your problem and work with those.
But you are still young so don't be too desperate your body will probably still change.
I guess this answer is sort of vague, but I can't really be more precise, because I would need to know more about you.
So check out my weight loss post and/ or message me again!

Hi! I'm 165cm tall and weigh 51kg. I'd love to lose a bit more weight.
ReplyDeleteJust wondering, is snowboarding a good slimming exercise?
Thank you!
Hey, I am 16 and I am 166 cm, 52 kg. Is that a good weight for me to be?
ReplyDeleteHeys,
Deleteit's generally definitely a good weight in my oppinion!
(but if you ask those super skinny ulzzangs they'd say sth else I think, cuz their standards are so 'low')
Hey,
DeleteI'm 163cm and weigh around 45 kg. I really want to reach 42kg which is my ideal weight but recently, its getting harder to lose weight. Do you have any recommendations or tips for me? Thank you.
Hii,
Deletewow you are nearly the same as me Haha
First of all congrats for reaching 45!!!
Do you seem to have reach like a limit or can't you go on with your diet that well?
If it is the first then don't worry! I also once thought I reached a limit and just wouldn't lose any more weight although I was dieting like usual (or if I think back, maybe not quite like usual). Just keep going!
At that time I gave up and earned back some weight, until I tried again, keeping stricter to the rules and broke down that barrier. In the end I saw that it was rather my attitude than my body 'striking'.
If the latter is your problem my advice is the same!
Just keep going!! Overcome yourself haha I know it will work out, that is simple logic. Although at times like this we start to worry and doubt the 'eat less - weigh less' principle.
I believe if you go on you will reach 42 in no time!!!
Fighting!! xxx
Hello!!!
ReplyDeleteFirst of all I LOVE your blog!!^_^
Okay, I'm just gonna straight to the point. I'm 14 years old, my height 155cm and weight 42kg.people says I'm skinny but I have chubby cheeks. Plus, I has small face that makes me look ....fat (I think ). How do I lose my chubby cheeks? ><
Hello Ahra!
DeleteThanks!! <3
Looking at your BMI I'd say that you are quite skinny!
About the chubby cheeks, you really mean chubby cheeks right? Not square shaped face vs v-line, or bloated face, etc
I understand that really chubby cheeks are somewhat annoying.
I don't know of any method that could help you reduce cheek fats, except:
- loosing weight, which I wouldn't do if I were you, because you already weigh so little and then are so young as well.
I you read all my other replies to 14 year-old girls, you will see what I mean !^^
My advice to you is:
Learn to live with your cheeks! This sounds kind of pessimistic, BUT as we grow up our faces or facial features tend to get more bonier and lean, or even really haggard.
Having full cheeks is a sign of youthfulness, which Koreans are always trying to maintain. Some whose face are too bony even get fillers to add more volume in order to look younger and friendlier (read: this http://bongqiuqiu.blogspot.de/2013/05/great-fantastic-results-nose-job-fat.html).
In my other posts I wrote that many ideals of ulzzang beauty are copied from baby features. Well chubby cheeks are baby-ish, too, so actually it could be quite a plus!
Imagine you have hollow cheeks, which make your cheek bones stick out! You would 'need' to get your cheek bones sawed away.
Then as I said, most probably you will lose your cheek fats with age, and before you know it, you are 21 and thinking that your features are too 'old-looking' !^^
So if I were you, I wouldn't let that bother me too much!
Embrace your youthfulness as long as you can xD And when you are older, it's another story !^^
I hope this answer was a bit helpful? Although I know that you probably wanted to hear something else, but this is really my honest opinion!
xxx
Hello!!! I just wanna ask you.. what is the measurements for ulzzang's tummy? And their thighs too!! ^_^
Delete감사합니다! ! ><
Hello!
DeleteI'm very sorry but I don't know. I have never look into that kind of info~
I'm 15, and my height is 160cm and weight, 59kg >< i really hate my weight and i really want to lose some fat in body especially in tummy and thigh. I do some exercise sometimes but give up so easily. Can u help me how to lose some weight? And u give me some tips on how to be more tall?
ReplyDeleteHi and sorry for the late reply!!
DeleteI have written another post about weight loss, you can find it in the navigation (upper right).
Apart from the tips mentioned in that post, the only thing I can tell you is; Don't give up!!!
I think it takes some try and fail for most of us when it comes to losing weight, but one of these times you just have to go on and on and on.
What kind of sports do you do? I think it is much easier to stay on target if you have joined some kind of sports institution. You might be too young for a gym membership yet, but how about joining some sports club in school or outside? Or dancing? I think aerobic or the like is a quite good way to lose some fats in a not-so-boring, but also not-too-exhausting way.
Also rethink the way you live to eliminate basic problems first. Start from the beginning.
As for growing taller... hmm... I have heard that stretching helps, but you'd have to be very consistent about that I think. I also think that sports which require a lot of stretching would help like basketball or gymnastics.
But of course you can't force any growth. Don't worry too much about your height! For something we can't really control it would be a waste of energy! You aren't too short and might still grow!!!
xxx
Hello! I'm 13 years old but i still dont grow more. I'm 155 cm and 40 kg. Is this a good weight for me. I have muscles on my legs and arms and my thigs usually dont touch each other. But i feel im fat. I have really short legs. How can i make them look longer?:) I'm also very tiny, like clothes sized xs are too big for me:/ I really dont like my legs. I have little bit fat and muscles on them. Oh, and i dance two times a week and walk a lot. How much do i hsve to lost weight? Whats ideal weight for me?:) Sorry for my bad english, its not my national language:D
ReplyDeleteHi Sinisha!!!
DeleteYou appear really skinny too me! I don't think that you should lose any weight.
I think your weight is 'good', you ARE already so skinny, it is already 'ulzzang standard'.
Ok, about the rest. Firstly, you might not see it the way I do and I imagine most ulzzangs* see it the same way: You are still a child. 13 years is - pardon me - nothing.
Although you are surely on your way to become a woman and thus want to look attractive, especially when you are confronted with kpop and ulzzangs, etc I wouldn't push it, if I were you.
You can't imagine how much your body, face everything will change over the next few years. What I want to say is, don't try to work too much on your body now, because it will change a lot.
Rather try to maintain your petite frame.
One more things about your weight. I don't think that you should feel fat. I can't absolutely imagine you to be fat, especially when your thighs aren't touching. You should think about that again and critically observe your body! Are you really fat?
It is normal for our body to have fat and muscles somewhere. Without any fat and muscles the body looks ugly too. Woman need to have curves, also on the legs, they can't be sticks. So a 'little bit fat' is really the minimum and probably ideal amount of fat you need there.
So again rethink your attitude. You might even want to consider to eat more to provide your body with more nutritions when you worry about growing taller. Even in the worst case, when you will gain so much weight that you will be fat, you can still diet later. But if you decide to go on a diet now to slim down it might have a bad effect on your growth. Later on if you think back, you can regret that choice, because no matter what you do, you can't grow anymore.
Apart from that, I wouldn't be too sure about 'not growing anymore' either. As I said you are very young, who knows all the secrets of one's body, maybe you suddenly growth spurt in a year?
Lastly about your short legs. If you were older I would suggest you to wear heels, but 13 yo girl in heels doesn't look good xD
Wear dark tight bottoms with a high waist. Your legs will look really tall. And if you wear skirts or so, make sure they are high waisted too!
That's it! Hope I could help you! And believe me when I say you are still a bit young to worry about your body too much (especially with slim body lik yours) !^^
xxx
*you know ulzzangs are mostly not born with a great body/ face
Deleteit takes years for them too look like we know them. They might look young, but many are over 21 (or have rich parents who sponsor nose jobs at age 16 /cough)
only as a woman their mind is mature enough to decide on things such as diet, make-up, etc and most important plastic surgery.
Those are all things a child could hardly do. So I think from the viewpoint of an ulzzang you should focus on other things more for now, friends, school, making good memories.
Later when you a more a woman maybe add fashion and more boyfriend-related stuff like make-up, your body haha
So don't worry!!
When I was your age or even younger, I suddenly started to worry about my weight and legs too! I though they were weirdly bent and not straight and too fat blablabla
Turns out it was just me overthinking, inexperienced and unknowing. In the years to come I realized through other people telling me that my legs are actually quite pretty, but back then I thought my legs were ugly.
Maybe I would even think so now.
So you see it is important to have a critical and realistic eye when it comes to such things as our perception might be affected by media, friends and our imagination.
I'm 15, my height is 178 cm (5'10'') and I weigh 67.5 kg (149 pounds). I want to be 54 kg (120 pounds). Is this a good ullzang weight? Should I lose more? Should I lose less? Thank you, and please keep writing on your blog -- it is my favorite blog, so far!
ReplyDeleteHey Carina!
ReplyDeleteWith 178cm/54kg you would have a BMI of 17, which is definitely comparable to the BMI values of the street models I listed above (their BMI values are also around 17).
So I think that would be a good goal weight. You can always adjust your goal on your way getting there, i.e. if you that you are already skinny enough (or not). But 178/54 (if not 55,56) sounds good to me and is in fact very Victoria's-Secret-model-ish according to this site http://thevsangelz.tumblr.com/measurements-and-description.
I definitely keep writing, thanks so much for your comment !!!

Hey, I adore ur post, helps a lot thanks! <3
ReplyDeleteI'm(18) currently on 161cm, and 51kg. I know I'm the way too OBESE, I know.. :'( I used to be 45kg and now trying so hard to get back there.. how much u think sud I loose weight for korean skinny standard goals, 43kg or 45kg?
I have a big like SUPER big legs. fats everywhere :"( mostly on thighs and butt.. little on calfs. and its the way sooo hard to loose fats down there. u have any idea why its so hard? I want wider thigh-gaps. I only do cardio this far, like 30mnt/day,4times/week.. any rec? but I don't want to get bulky, just skinny&slim. also I'm doing low-carbs diet too, hhe.
can u help me what kind of diet and workout I probably sud do? and how long it probably wud takes to get to my goals?
+some tips wud helps alo too <3
Thank u so much, I hope u'll always be loved and have blessed days, and fighting for ur blog. XOXO
Heys Aisyah (or is it Fildzah? !^^),
DeleteFirst of all YOU ARE NOT OBESE!!! You are just normal, normal, normal weight (or actually skinny to many people)!!! (And btw about the same as me).
I think 45 would be normal really skinny, 43 would be extra really skinny, both are fine in my eyes, depends on what you prefer.
I feel like your body build is also the same as mine, my legs are also rather 'fat' (except calves and ankles) while my arms are kinda skinny. Whenever I lose weight it's also seems that my arms are getting even skinnier first, while my legs don't change much. What I am trying to do is to lose so much that it eventually has to show on the legs, I'm not sure if there's any better way to do this.
Anyway, have you read my 'weight-loss' post? Maybe there is some useful information in there for you.
I think you already do a few things right, but
1) you shouldn't do only cardio, and if you do cardio to burn fat, you'd have to do it for longer than 30 minutes, because in the first 30 minutes your body won't burn fat away, but other stuff.
Also cardio is not as effective as weight/ strength training when it comes to weight loss. Weight training has many advantages over cardio as you will also burn more calories even when you are not working out (more about that in my weight loss post). I think a good combination of cardio and strength training would be something like pilates, tae bo, etc (lots of youtube vids).
But I find that you do so much cardio really really cool! Lots of respect!!
2) Low-carb sounds very good! Keep that up! You may want to consider to start your day with a glass of lukewarm water to get your metabolism to burn more calories. Also drinking a lot of water throughout the day and especially before your meals helps to make you feel less hungry, so you eat less.
Generally I would say, be mindful of what you eat, eat mostly veggies, eat only as much as you need, throw out all the sweet stuff (from candy to juices), if you do feel hungry snack on 'zero calorie food' like apples, cucumbers, apricots, oranges, etc, they won't make you gain a gram.
I hope that helped. If not please ask me again, I'll be glad to answer.
I am not sure about how long it will take you. But I think maybe 1,5 month? Maybe 1 month? If you really stay strong? After all you only have to lose 6kg !^^
Lastly, thanks for your lovely comment! I'm fighting for you, too! You can do it, 6kg is really not much!!! (And you are NOT OBESE wtf!!!!!)

Deletethanks for the replay its so kind of you <3
awy, i want to ask about fruit diet. I loves fruits especially watermelon, apple, and banana. I can even ate only 1/4 watermelon for a whole day w/o eating anything else (well idk if its healthy or not but I LOSE WEIGHT so yeah :')
but still i need a daily fruit diet meals plan, like what kind of fruit sud i eat, and the amount(?) can u share about it pretty pleasee :') <3
I'm currently 50kg/161cm (i'm FAT af TT.TT) and my goals are around 43kg..
oh, and i somehow heard that eating too much bananas (like4-5pcs) wud makes you gain weight :''(
thankyouu so much again, I'll wait for ur reply! have a blessed day XOXO<3 (ps: i adore ur blog hihi)
Hi and sorry for the slow reply!
Delete1/4 watermelon sounds pretty cool, although don't know if I should say this !^^
I guess banana countains much sugar compared to other fruits, and sugar can eventually be stores as fat, which means you could have more fat in your body if you eat too much bananas, as well as other sugary stuff (and of course that can eventually lead to weight gain)
As for a fruit diet plan, I'm not a specialist, but have you heard of superfruits? If not google that term and try to pick out some that you like to incorporate into your diet
Then there are certain zero-calorie foods that contain like nothing that could make you gain weight or even take up more calories to be digested than they themselves contain, like apples, berries, grapefruits, watermelon... just google the topic !^^
Hope I could help you! And fighting!!
hi, im an asian woman, 23y.o, my height is 162cm, my weight is 44kg n my bones arent big, just med/small, i do love food, i eat much but kinda hard for me to gain weight, bcause my lifestyle as a programmer, kinda seldom to do sports/exercises n i hve seafood allergy. some ppl around me said that im underweight but i feel that my weight n height are just ok in me, my male korean friends said ok too, bcause many korean women wanna be still skinny though eat much. my legs are long. what do you think? is this a good should i keep it n be more confident? or gain weight? kinda confused, whenever i tried to gain weight, my cheeks became chubby in the beginning. anyway, do u hve any idea? is this a good shape like the ulzzang's body/women's body? can you gimme some advices?
ReplyDeleteHey,
ReplyDeletefirst of all. I don't think you should change for other people, when you yourself are OK with how you are and feel healthy and good.
There's just no need to, especially when you eat normally to.
Be confident. What's the use of weighing a certain amount other than being healthy? But obviously you seem to be healthy already.
2ndly according to the BMW chart I think you are (slightly) underweight. Also, do you live together with Western people? I think it is harder and more unusual for them to 'accept' lower weights. I think for them sth around 50+ kg is already considered skinny. So they might just out of a certain principle say that you should gain weight, without really knowing much or being concerned with your weight.
That's why I wouldn't listen too much to them, too.
Lastly, man I wish I was your weight. That's my personal opinion ❤
So to put it short. Be more confident, if you feel good you are good!
Hi! I First of all, I wanted to say that I love your blog! ♡ You are honest without being rude, but you also don't try to disillusion anyone. I am 14, 46.3 kg, and 161 cm. My family and friends think I'm fine, but I definitely don't look very ulzzang-ish. What do you think my ideal weight would be? (I'm also asian with a medium-small bone structure)
ReplyDeleteHi!! Thanks for your lovely comment!!! And really sorry for the super duper late reply ㅠㅠ
DeleteUhm I just calculated your BMI and it's 17.7 which is underweight.
How don't you look very ulzzang-ish? Do you find yourself not skinny enough? Or is it more sth like, my legs aren't long enough, etc?
Depending on what body type you are your weight is already quite ideal, but if you don't like it, I'd say you could also try 44-43kg (compare with the first table above please). But I'm also saying to any younger girl that it's definitely not the time for aggressive diets yet. Apart from it being not necessarily good for your growth, you could also grow into a nice (ulzzang-ish) body in the time to come.
To put it short, you are already quiet skinny in my opinion, but there are ulzzangs who are your height who weigh 2-3 kg less.

Hi i'm pretty fat 61kg and 170cm my thigs touch each other just a little bit. How much should i lose weight to be pretty skinny and how to lose weight without looking sick or something like that. Thank you ^_^
ReplyDeleteHi!
DeleteIf you look at the 2nd table in my blog post, you will see that I listed some Korea girls who are about the same height as you are. I'd say depending on your body type sth like 48-50kg should be fine for you!!!
I have written a blog post about weight loss, check that out for more information (navigation is on the top right) and if you still have questions, please comment again there!

hello! i am 15 years old, 150cm and weigh about 44 kg at the moment. i have a small frame (like my wrist is 5 inches), so whenever i gain or lose weight, it really changes my shape. my goal weight is 40kg, but i have no idea how to lose 4kg. i exercise about 7 hours a week, and i eat smaller portions because it's just what my family does (i'm korean lol). i think i'm at a relativly low weight right now, so i don't know how to lose weight. i have always been pretty small, so it's natural for my body to be slender. the thing is that i just want to be a little bit more. i hate calorie-counting (tried it for a month), but i got so fixated on it that i just can't use it anymore. do you have any tips for me?
ReplyDeleteHey Stephanie!
DeleteI have written a blog post about weight-loss (navigation is on the top right) maybe that helps?
If not then message me again at the weight-loss post!!

hey:) i 'm 156cm and weight 50 kg. How much weigh should i lose?
ReplyDeleteHi! based on BMI values I'd say 8kg
DeleteHi! I am a very tall asian. I am 5'8 and 54kg. How much weight should I lose to look like an ulzzang? My weight seems to be in the ball park but I have very muscular and thick legs from dancing. How can I gut slimmer legs? Thank you for your informative blog!
ReplyDeleteHey,
Deletewell I think sth around 48kg would be a good 'ulzzang weight' for you.
As for your legs, I think that's unfortunately sth that we can't easily change, since it's just how our body is built.
But you could try to be more aware of how you use your legs during dancing and what movements you do and go a bit easier on them. Maybe that will relax your leg muscles and after some time they will shrink a little.
Hope that helps!

Hey there I am 21, 163 cm and 52 kg, people say I have skinny legs but I feel that they are fat, and they kind of touch in the middle, how much weight would you say I should lose?
ReplyDeleteHeys,
Deleteit really depends on how your body is built. I'd say either start with 48kg, if your legs only 'kind of touch' and you mostly lose your fats there or lose them there first (and not on the arms or belly) this might already be enough.
If not try 45kg.
xxx
Hi! First of all, I love your blog ^.^ you're so nice and honest. I'm 14 years old and I'm 163 cm tall and weigh 59-60kg. I sometimes do blogilates 3-4 times a week and I'm trying so hard to achieve a thigh gap and a flat belly and all my hard work just doesn't seem to pay off which makes me feel so bad about myself :( my mom says that i'm still growing so I shouldn't carr so much about my weight yet, but as a former overweight child it's hard to ignore it. My goal is 43 kg, but after hearing all kinds of things saying that that's very unhealthy I changed my goal to 45kg-47kg max. Is this a good goal for me to work towards? I really want to be ulzzang >.< also, do you know why I just can't seem to lose weight?? I eat healthy and small portions and I also workout (not very much, but when I do I put 110% effort in it and really push myself). It's just really dissapointing and discouraging to not see any results and only GAIN weight.
ReplyDeleteHello dear!
Deletethank you for your comment!
First of all your mother is quite right. There are plenty of chubby kids who suddenly become skinny as a rake during or after puberty (I know 3).
Still of course it is adviseable to maintain a healthy weight.
43kg is really kind of too light when you compare this weight to standard weights, but still it really depends on one's own body built. But certainly 45 to 47 is a good start (52kg would also be regarded as skinny by many/ most people btw)
Then concerning your other questions, firstly I'd like to 'redirect' you to my weight loss post (navigation is on the upper right). If you follow those simple 'rules' (which you seem to do as far as I can tell) you should lose weight sooner or later.
Well, I'm not sure why you encounter such problems, but for how long have you been trying to lose weight?
Do you get sore muscles after working out? And how long is each of your sessions?
For now I can only tell you to keep eating healthy, mostly veggies, not much carbs, fat and sugar (just as in my weight loss post).
Try to weigh yourself every evening and morning to see how what have you have eaten during a day impacts on your weight and find the right amount of intake and outake (i.e. sports).
Another tip of me is to try and find the lowest amount of food you need for a day and eat only so much. This doesn't mean that you need to starve yourself, but just thinking about portion sizes, etc
Lastly, don't lose heart! Our body might be stubborn, but eating less (+ working out) simply leads to weightloss (sooner or later), this is a logic nobody (pun intended) can defy!!
Good luck! xxx
Thank you so much for all the tips and encouraging me to keep on going :) I've been overweight since I was 5 until around 11 years old and I've lost a lot of weight when I was 12 by working out really hard (forgot how long) and reached a healthy weight (yeey me) and I was 52kg when I was 13. Around the start of September 2014 I started working out again because I've gained so much weight. I also eat a lot less now according to my mom and she says I should eat more, but i've gotten used to it and my body craves less food now. Each workout session is around half an hour long (not that long I know, but I'm weak and my condition is so bad >.<). After my workout I sometimes feel as if my legs are made from spaghetti and my abs and butt are definitly a bit sore. I stopped working out for a few months and didn't really pay attention to my weight anymore, but then I remembered that I've set a goal for the summer to weigh <55kg and got all motivated to start again, but there's just no process and that sucks :(( thanks for motivating me again I'll really try my best to reach my goal for the summer! <3
DeleteWell since you've made it once there's no reason why you shouldn't be able to lose weight again!
DeleteI think for most peope it takes several attempts to reach and maintain their desired weight!
Be sure to train your muscles more than any cardio related stuff, as that is more efficient for weight loss. Then you'll also feel more sore even up to three days after working out!
are there any body ratios that ulzzangs tend to follow? like the 1:8 body ratio or something?
ReplyDeleteI haven't heard of any, but I'm also not looking too deep into the matter.
DeleteI mean isn't 'skinny with loong legs and big boobs and nice butt' precise enough? Why going through maths? xD
I'm 5'8" and I weigh ahout 143 lbs.. Should I lose weight? I don't want to be ulzzang skinny but just fit enough with a thigh gap and flat belly.. My thighs are reli bulky with both muscle and fat.. I hate working out and my mom keeps telling me to lose weight but I can't control my love for food 😁 what kind of diet should i eat?
ReplyDeleteHey,
Deletebasically 'flat belly and a thigh gap' sounds pretty ulzzang skinny to me !^^
Since you ask me if you should lose weight. Actually that's up to you, but if you wanted to be ulzzang skinny, that would be sth around 110lbs for you (might well be a bit more).
I wonder if you'll get a thigh gab with 120lbs though (which would also be quite skinny already). Tbh I don't know at all. It depends on your body really.
For a basic diet plan please read my weightloss post (navigation is on the upper right). If you have additional questions, please ask again over there.
As for controlling one's cravings... Try ban every unhealthy food out of your house and never bring enoug money to buy food when you're outside !^^

ReplyDeleteHey !^^
Deletewhy is everybody asking me how mich they should weigh? ㅋㅋ
Well, my personal opinion is that 45 kg would be ok skinny for you. But depending on your own preferences and body maybe 47 kg would already be good enough.
Hope that helps! xxx
Hey! are they any exercises that get rid of the fat on the lower legs? and butt exercises that dont bulk your thigh? thanks :)
ReplyDeleteHey there!
DeleteFirst of all, unfortunately there are no exercises that get rid of fat at certain areas.
It's not like when we move our arms, then the body will use the fat stores there, to provide energy for the movement.
The body will use fat stored anywhere in the body (I guess maybe it prefers the fat around the hips or belly, but idrk).
The consequence is, you need to generally lose weight (diet and work out) in order to lose fat and yes, some fats are quite resistant and some will start to melt away pretty soon. And which fats these are also differs for everybody.
When you exercise a certain area only the *muscles* of that area will experience an effect, that means they will grow (as you already fear).
But working out in a normal way, shouldn't cause bulky legs, and even if you get overenthusiastic and work out too much, you can still stop when you notice that your muscles are beginning to get bigger than you want, right?
So my advice is, first start to work out, than complain xD
Lastly, maybe you want to read my post concerning weight loss in particular for more information.

I'm 158cm and weigh 39kg. yet my body does
ReplyDeletenot look anything like that..should i lose more weight?
Give me a picture of your body and I tell ya what to do !^^
DeleteHey! I am 167 cm,47 kg. Should i loose more weight?? And i am trying to get skinny legs so that i can be confident of my legs. I want to reduce the fat on my thighs(esp lower thighs), i have a little thigh gap only. I have been doing 5-3-2 workout, but are there any exercises to get skinny legs. Please help me with this ^^
ReplyDeleteHeya,
DeleteI'm not your mother please haha
If you feel not skinny enough lose more, if you feel too skinny gain weight, it's that simple !^^
There are exercises for toning your legs, which means building firm leg muscles.
But unfortunately you can't lose weight at a certain area trough exercising. When your body needs energy it will take it from your fat reserves from anywhere in your body. Your body might be like 'oh I only like fat from the arms, but the fat stored in the thighs is too precious, I'll only use it as a last resort when all other fats are gone'
Which means you have to exercise and diet on until you finally reach the stage when your body will burn your leg fats.
Btw these 'last resort areas' vary from body to body.
So unfortunately I can't give you better news, but I hope that still helps!
Btw little thigh gap is also good enough! Be confident of what you have and think about if it's really necessary to be like this of that for YOU to look beautiful!

p/s I like exo too !^^
Thank you..
DeleteMy weight is 45kg with 158cm for the height?...How much should I lose for the weight?
ReplyDeleteA maximum of 5kg for a start is the max I can advise you to lose with a clear conscience.
DeleteAfter or during the process you can adapt your goal weight depending on whether you have reacher your dream body or not !^^
Hello. I am 13 years old and around 168-169 cm and my weight is usually between 58-60kgs (i have no clue as to why it changes so much) and i was wondering how much more i should lose... (i was thinking maybe 45-48kgs (?))
ReplyDeleteHeys,
Deletesounds good!
45 should really be the absolute lower limit when 46,47,48 really still don't look right ;)

Hi! I'm 5 feet tall and 100 lbs. I'm also Vietnamese and have a 25 inch waist. Should I lose more weight to be ulzzang skinny? I would like to aim to be 91-93lbs. Sadly, I'm pretty flat chest wise at a 34A so body proportions are ehhh. For body fat, I would say it's primarily in my thighs and a small bit on my stomach and cheeks (face). Do you have any recommendations on slimming these down?
ReplyDeleteAlso, I've heard tea detoxes and garcinia cambogia work, but is this true? And should I take them?
totally sorry for the super late reply /I'm not worthy
DeleteI don't know.. do you want to be ulzzang skinny? then yes? haha
if you are worried about weighing less than the average, well you are also shorter than the average, sooo no worries
god, I also have no chest whatsoever, doesn't mean that your whole body proportions are crap haha long and slender legs man!!!
Generally I think it's really hard to impossible to remove fats from certain areas by working out or dieting, you just have to lose fat overall.
There's so much info on the internet, you simply can't know what works and what not. I think people who are into weight loss and use another method - like detoxing, paleolithic diet - lose weight because they eat less in general.
Not necessarily because whatever-technique-they-used was sooo effectiv.
The secret is eating less (and working out) and stick to it!!!

Hello, thanks so much for this post! I am 162 cm and currently weight about 54-55 kg and based on those charts I feel like I should drop to about 45-46 kg, but looking at the charts I find some of the girls near my height range are more towards the 43-45 kg range. Do you think I should drop to 43 or keep it around 45/46 kg? Also, do you have any tips on losing belly and thigh fat? Or exercises/ foods I could start using? I have quite the belly and a very small thigh gap so....Anyways thank you!
ReplyDeleteHeys,
Deleteand yes super late reply. Slap me!
'Don't count your chickens before they are hatched.' Once you've reached 45-46 and you still find yourself not skinny enough, lose more.
If you like what you see, then why bother?
If have a weight-loss post up here (navigation is on the top right-ish).
And I guess most people will lose belly fat quite easily once they start some weight loss regimen. Apart from that, it is not very possible to lose weight at certain areas, as far as I know, you just have to lose weight in general.
Good luck!

ReplyDeleteHeys,
Deleteyou are actually still normal, but on the border to being underweight.
For your height 43.7kg is regarded underweight, with a BMI value of 18.4 (yours right now is 18.6)
So no worries !^^

I'm half Chinese and half Korean, 168-169cm and 100lbs on a normal day and 102lbs on a bad day. Which ulzzang and kpop star do I most represent, and my bmi is 16.5 , and should I lose more weight?
ReplyDeleteYou area aware of the fact that you are already quite skinny, right?
DeleteAs you are this skinny, I don't know how I should possibly be able to tell you whether you should lose more weigh or not, since I can only vaguely suggest weights to people, who are not skinny, as I can guess what skinny would be for certain heights.
With that said, you should really try and find out yourself how happy you are with your body and if you aren't what kind of measurements you should take.
I'm not really a pro at idols/ulzzangs, but some that would be around your height are Sullli (f(x)), Hyejeong (aoa), Haeryung/ Uji (bestie), Le/ hani/ Junghwa/ Yuzi (exid).
Hope that helps you!

Hey, I'm 17 y.o, 172cm and 56kg. I gained a lot of weight after recovering from anoreaxia. now I want to loose weight in a healthy way ,but I binge eat a lot especially when I'm home alone I always end up eating everything. Any advice?? Also how much do you think I should weigh to get the ulzzang look??
ReplyDeleteXOXO
Heyys,
Deletecongrats from recovering from anorexia!!! :*
You should ask your parents to buy only things that you are ok with eating, like things which don't have much calories. (There are certain 0-calories foods, maybe those? Try googling it)
These you can eat without worrying too much.
Still you should try to control your eating habits, binging happens when you have been starving yourself before.
That's why I think you should eat enough (0-calorie) food everytime, so that your stomach feels full!
And how aout trying to be not home alone so much? Find an activity which distracts you, studying, doing chores or cooking for your family, or going for a walk?
Also ask your parents to throw out every unecessary food, like sweets for example (or I don't know whatever you food you binge on and have a bad conscience afterwards).
Replace them with either 0-calorie foods or healthy alternatives.
I don't know whether I should say this, but I guess your parents are quite worried about you being anorexic again and will react rather uncooperative, which is very understandable. You have to explain your problem to them thoroughly and point out your binging problem (which eventtually might lead to anorexia again) !^^
I have written a weight-loss post here on this blog, check it out for information about dieting and losing weight !^^
And if you should still have any quetions, please feel free to ask!!
And a kind ulzzang-ish weight for your would be something like 50-48kg! Maybe even up to 52.
This is regarded as quite underweight for your height, whilst your weight now is on the lower half of normal-weight.
You should realize that going down so much is kinda risky for you, I think the mindset of anorexia stays somewhere in one's brain, even if someone has overcome it.
That's why I'm telling you (and I normally don't like to do that, everybody should be clever enough to take care of themselves) to be extra careful and embrace an active lifestyle (you know those fit chicks) to maintain your dream body instead of losing yourself in dieting and weighing onself).
Stay healthy!
xxx
hey! what bust/waist/hip measurements would you recommend for a 5'2 18yr old girl to fit into the ulzzang group? and would weighing 58kg be alright or should i lose a bit more? thankyou :)
ReplyDeleteHeys,
Deletesorry to say that, but I'm a noob at those measurements.
Then again ulzzang is an ideal, which means your bust cannot be big enough, your waist can't be small enough and your hips; if hips mean perky butt then they can't be big enough either.
Just stick to ideal weight to keep things simple.
And you surely mean 48 kg? Well, I think 45 would be better for your height. But it could also be that you are very lucky and have a body that doesn't need such a low weight to get thigh gap and what not.
Try it out!

Hello, I`m 147cm (4'10) and 41kg (90lbs.) TT^TT People say I look skinny, but I feel as if I don`t. I have arm flab and my legs are short and HUGE. I have an older sister that`s only a few months older than me and is 144cm (4'9) and 32kg (70lbs) When ever we go out, I feel like people tend to compare us because their eyes are literally all on us. I don`t want that anymore, I want to lose weight. How much should I lose though?
ReplyDeleteHow old are you?
DeleteI wouldn't diet too much when you're still at an age where you'd still grow, better eat healthily and grow so you end up as 'the tall one' when compared to your sis.
Maybe try losing 5kg in the beginning and see whether you are happy with the result?
xxx
Thank you so much for replying, but do you have any tips I could use? But you don`t have to give me any. Also, my sis and I are both 15 years old, since we have particularly short parents, we`re short ourselves. Haha.
DeleteOh, I'm sorry I somehow thought you commented under my 'weightloss' post, which you can find when you hover over the navigation on the top right-ish.... and contains all of my general tips !^^
DeleteI'm 164.5cm and weight 48 kg..do i need to diet? But i have visible collarbone, my mom hates when i lose weight..i eat a lot but why my weight doesn't change?
ReplyDeleteLosing weight or not is solely dependent on your preference and thus your personal choice (and I guess dependent on your age, your mother's, too ㅋㅋ)
DeleteIf you like it, you like it . Don't listen to numbers, listen to yourself first.
And why you don't gain weight? Fast metabolism? Idk could be many things.
Hello i don't know if you didn't get my last message i sent it like a month ago so maybe it didn't send but right know trying to lose weight and look like young hye but do you think thats healthy for someone who isn't of that race I'm 5'5 and also i heard that within the first month of working out you lose mainly the water weight i have lost only 2 pounds and now i am 109 .9 pounds how long do you think it will take me to lose 6 pounds i workout everyday and i eat only fruit and veggies and healthy meat i lost around 2 pounds over 1 week to 2 weeks and i have a event in 2 weeks do you think i will make it if i stick to my diet ?
ReplyDeletethank you
Heys,
Deletesorry for the late reply... unfortunately it seems like I didn't get your last message...
I don't think that this is too related to any race (if that's what you mean).
What you lose depends on the kind of 'diet/ work out' you do, if you just eat less w/o working out, it will be muscle + fat. If you work out it will be more fat and no muscles.
About water... I actually don't know how much water you lose, but I can definitely say that you will be able to wear smaller clothes when you lose weight... and that's what counts isn't it? (which means that I don't think that you mainly gonna lose just water the whole 1st month)
How fat did you come? I think you might barely make it, if you put in more effort. Since it took you 1 week to lose 2 pounds and you want to lose 6 pounds more in 2 weeks? (It's basically just simple maths what I'm doing so, so really no big deal in asking me hahaha)
xxx
Hello i'm 157cm and i weigh 40kg. Even though i consider myself thin enough already but my legs aren't as skinny and long as the ulzzangs...(they're pretty fat tbh)
ReplyDeleteWhat do you recommend i do? TT
Heys,
Deletehow about wearing high waisted dark pants and shoes with heels?
Makes your legs look longer and slimmer and seriously, if you are skinny, you are skinny and ulzzangs are just skinny, too (does that make sense?)
Also they might photoshop their legs or pull themselves longer and what not.
If you have a visible thigh gap, then just add heels and skinny pants.
If you feel like you want to lose weight then do it.
It's your decision.
What I can tell you is, I would lose weight if I didn't like what I see and if it feels right.
xxx
I'm only just 157cm tall and I way about 49kg.How much weight do I need to lose and how can I do it in a short amount of time? Thank you.

But really, it's best to try it out for yourself and see what you like.
And I wrote weight loss post (navigation is on the top right-ish)

Hey!! I hope I'm not too late.. but I'm so glad that I found your blog, it's really bloody amazing. I'm 5'0-5'1 and I'm not growing anymore. What would you consider skinny enough? I was thinking about 77 lbs (35 kg) - 88 lbs (40 kg).. I know you can't generalize that since everyone's body is different shaped but I just really need a specific ultimate goal weight that I can focus on. Thanks xoxo
ReplyDeleteHeys, too late for what?
DeleteAnd thanks a bunch for your comment! *~*
35 to 40 sounds pretty good to me, considering your height.
I'd say go for 37 haha and when you get there you'll know if that's enough or not!
Fighting! xxx
Hi!
ReplyDeleteI'm 15 and my height is 170cm-171cm and 49kg-50kg. Should I lose some weight?
Heys Aurora,
Deleteidk do you like how your body looks or not?
As I always try to emphasize: it's the look what counts not the number on your scale!
I am 5'5 and weigh 120 pounds. I am not overweight or obese, but I don't have the ulzzang body that I want. What can I do to get the ulzzang body? The long and slender legs? What weight to I have to be to have the ulzzabg body? any additional information will be highly valued! Thank you!
ReplyDeleteHeys Gee,
DeleteI have a post about weight loss up on this blog (navigation is on the top right-ish).
Ulzzangs or idols your height hardly weigh above 110 pounds, but more anything ranging from 92 to 108, depending on their individual body built or preference.
As for the legs, they will look automatically slender and thus longer when someone is skinny. But dark, tight, high waisted bottoms and heels help!
Hope that helps!

thanks for helping me out with the tech problem I had! <3 So, I'm 160cm and weigh roughly 50kg, what weight should I aim for? Also, my legs r pretty thick but I think they have the potential to b skinny, any tips?
ReplyDeleteI think 42 actually... maybe 45 depends on your body
Deleteonce you are skinny, you legs will be skinny... sounds stupid, but unfortunately there's no other way (well, there might be ways to make legs slightly thinner, but not from thick to skinny I think)
Good luck!
Thank you for your words :)
DeleteHi!
DeleteFew months ago, when I was n a diet, my weight was around 38 kg and I'm 151.5 cm tall. My health wasn't too good, so under pressure from my parents and doctors I had to gain some weight and now it's around 41 kg. When I was gaining weight, I was working out a little bit, too, but I decided to not continue doing this. I think that those 3 kg has made huge difference and I'm not satisfied with my appearance. Recently I'm not eating 100% healthy, but not that bad, so I should start? It will help me visibly? I would like to burn some fat without exercising and doing cardio, but I don't know if only eating 100% healthy will make it. TT TT
If you are on a really consequent diet you can lose weight and have a better body shape without exercising.
DeleteDoes that answer your question?
I would be glad if I will burn some fat without losing weight, because I really can't, it's what I'm talking about. Anyway, thanks for your response~
DeleteOh, then you'd have to lose the fat and work out to gain muscle mass
DeleteThat would make you look slimmer too, since muscles are leaner than fat!^^
so im korean.... and recently i visited korea, and everyone was super skinny, beautiful, had flawless skin, and perfect bodies! thankfully it was winter when i went, so i didnt have to expose my body as much. my family wants to go in the summer time, but i feel so fat! all of my friends here in the u.s. are so skinny! theyre like 5'1 and 93 pounds. i want to be skinny like them, and i want a nice body when i go to korea. ive been trying to have 1 meal a day for a couple months now, ive only lost 7 pounds. i weight a lot less than i did before, but im 4'11 and right now, im 100.8 pounds. do you have any ideas how to lose more weight? how do i lose weight fast, because its becoming springtime and its almost time for shorts. am i fat compared to my friends? i want to be skinny, can you help??
ReplyDeleteHey,
Deleteyou are already eating as little as is possible, so I guess you have to do sports if you want to lose more?
But be careful to provide enough energy for your body to really exercise!
I also have a post abou weight-loss up here, maybe you wanna check that out, too!
Good luck!
Hello :)
ReplyDeleteThat was a very helpful post to get a overview :)
I am a western girl, 17 years old. I am 166 and my
Weight is around 54 but sometimes a bit under, around 53.5.
My family and friends say I look skinny ... But I am not so sure
What would you say would be the lightest I could go with weight?
Thank you already :)
Hi Yuki,
Deletebefore you're losing weight unnecessarily only because you are 'not so sure' you should critically look at your body and think about whether it really doesn't comply with your personal perceptions.
And the lightest weight for you varies quite strongly depending on your body built... I'd say maybe 45 to be sure!
Thank you for your comment!
I'm 169 and weight about 110. What do you think what I should weight to have nice thin legs... My legs are quite fat I think... Do you have any tips for losing weight?
ReplyDeleteHi,
Deletemaybe 100? It really depends on your body.
I have a weight loss post up here, you might want to check that out !^^
I know this post is a little old but I was wondering what broad shoulders would be considered as? I know that in the West broad shoulders and no chest would be cosidered a more modelesque build but what do the people in korea think?
ReplyDeleteI think they can tolerate no chest, since Asians often are not too blessed in that department, too~
DeleteAs for broad shoulders.. Do you mean 'cat walk model-like' with 'modelesque'?
If yes then I haven't heard of broad shoulders being considered very favourable for women in any (cultural) environment.
Broad shoulders are a very masculine attribute and makes men appear more attractive (and woman appear more tough, if we're speaking about padded shoulders).
That's why I'd say as for Koreans or ulzzang who are as I find quite intolerant towards 'flaws' and very anal about every single inch of the body/ face, broad shoulders are not the worst, but certainly one of the more annoying things, since it effects your whole appearance.
Sounds quite negative, but then again.. nobody's perfect~ So.. why bother !^^
I see that a lot of people have a size 44 top, what does that mean?
ReplyDelete44 is the smallest size in Korea !^^
DeleteIt's officially an regular S, but I doubt that... I think it's likely to be more a XS or even smaller
Hi,
ReplyDeletetry to follow the tips I wrote in my post about weight loss and see how that works.
If you still have more questions then, just ask under my weight loss post !^^
How much should a 13 year old girl who is 162 cm weigh and a 14 year old girl who is 160cm weigh and an 18 year old girl who is 170.18 weigh? Please reply to all of those, I would just like to know the basic requirements. All these girls have small bones and thigh gaps, but they gain muscle easily.
ReplyDelete13 or 14 yo girls should weigh anything on the scale as long as it's not overweight, cuz they are young and should not try to look sexy or whatever
DeleteAnd most of all are thus not qualified to be an ulzzang anyway
Also it's not actually about the weight, it's about the body shape, i.e you could weigh a ton or 10 tons as long as you look skinny and all
The number on the scale is just like a metaphor for the perfect body.
Lastly, body shapes are age- independent, so let's just say we are talking about a 160 cm, 162cm and 170cm tall person.
First two about 45kg (maybe rather less?) (Really 2cm don't matter that much)
170 cm Person maybe around 50kg? Then again I know sb who is 172 and weighs 47 and it looks good, so yeah #itscomplicated
I am 155 cm and 48kg. How much weight should I lose?
ReplyDelete40?
Delete40kg!? I WISH I COULD WEIGH THAT LITTLE TT
DeleteProbably around 39kg (i know thats an UNBELIEVABLE number but yeah)since most idols arent that height. Even HyunA from 4minute weighed 39kg for awhile. all you need to do is maintain it. I just gained weight though... i am probably not the best person to go for when looking to lose weight.
DeleteIm 14 and am about 161-163 cm. i weigh 44-46kg depending because i wake up and i weigh around 44-45kg then after i eat, i weigh 46 TT. I know im fat compared to idols but what diet tips would you recommend? i have tried the Nine Muses diet, IU diet (search it up if you dont know it. Its considered the deadly diet), All protein diet, fruit diet, and many others. i have even tried the one meal a day diet which seems to work best for me since i usually skip out lunch and dinner. i even eat really low in calories. I consume about 600-800 calories a day and if i skip out on 2 meals, i usually consume about 100-200 calories. Do any of you guys recommend any dieting tips? im thinking of trying the Lemon Detox diet. its another deadly diet. TT I HATE MY WEIGHT!! TT also how do you guys recommend on getting pale? ive tried sunscreen but i live in the hottest place on earth with the most sun. Can i even try becoming paler??
ReplyDeleteHeys,
DeleteI DON'T think you're fat at all compared to ulzzangs/ idols/ freelance models!!
Like some of them might be lighter but the same amount is the same weight as you.
And the key to maintaining and losing weight has less to do with what diet you're following but is more about pulling it through!
No matter what diet you're doing if you don't stick to it you can't make it. And if you're at your limit calorie-intake-wise then you have to work out.
There's no point in trying out weird, absurd diets as losing weight really follows just a simple rule - less (calories ) in than out.
But as I said you should focus on your body shape not on some number on the scale and even less compare it to some idol data (also because - as if they ain't lying for whatever reason)
Also for getting pale: maximum sunblock, maximum coverage and hoping for the best!
Try it and I think it works to some degree.
I'm 13.My wieght 40kg.My height 170 cm.Is that ok to be ulzzang???
ReplyDeleteFirst of all - ARE YOU A F****G BOY?!?!
DeleteSecondly - DID YOU EVEN READ THE FUCKING POST?!
WHERE FOR GOD'S SAKE DO I MENTION ANYONE WEIGHING 40KG AT ALL?! LET ALONE WITH A HEIGHT OF 170?!
WHAT'S WITH THAT STUPID QUESTION?
/exhales honestly even if you are a girl - you should KNOW what weight is healthy or not just by pure COMMON SENSE!!!!
and even if you lack of that I expect people who comment here to have at least skimmed through the post - and I have those cute tables up there and NO ONE in there - not even the 160 ppl - weighs 40kg !!!
So 'is that ok to be ulzzang' my ass - you should know that for yourself. NO IT IS NOT OK MAN! (and in case you are wondering - which you might be cuz clearly no common sense - it is TOO LITTLE)
And I don't even know why I'm answering, cuz the answer is pretty much written in my post, which you didn't bother to read and why should I bother to answer comments of people who clearly haven't read my shit. Is that ok? (It isn't)
hi I'm 165cm and I weigh about 113lb how much would I need to lose to have an ulzzang body?I also have big thighs and I don't know how to get rid of it. I don't really like to exercise but dieting works for me. I lost a lot of pounds already to have the weight I have now. I went from 135lb to 113lb. I love my body now but it's still not ideal in my head. I can see that I'm more skinny now and both my family and friends agree. they all tell me not to lose anymore weight but I feel as if I'm still not at the ideal goal body yet. I want to have a perfectly flat stomach and a less thigh fat on my legs. since I don't like to exercise, dieting is my easy way out to everything. I also check my weight every Monday to see if I lost or gained weight. my goal is to at least be 110lb or a little bit less. by the way I'm not Asian (I'm East African) so I don't know if the Asain standards will fit me. anyways thank youuu ^^
ReplyDeleteHeys,
Deleteevery body is different. And everyone has a different perception of how that 'perfect ulzzang' body is, even ulzzangs themselves are not all equally skinny. Some like it a bit more curvy and others just think 'less is more'
If there are some fats bothering you, I think the only way to get rid of them is to lose more weight. (You can't exercise them away unfortunately - or fortunately in your case since you don't like to exercise anyway xD)
The thing is that whilst I do 'approve' of losing more weight only to get rid of certain fats, it surely is a 'dangerous' thing. You have to find the line between 'not yet anorexic weight' and 'my body doesn't seem to get rid of that neck fat and I'm already at my limit, I'll have to live with it'.
And here is where it's important to chill and love your body.
Hope that helped!

Hi... I am malaysian
ReplyDeleteIm 16 now. My height just around 158~160cm and my weight just 40kg. I have small waist, 21 inch... please give me some advise.. should i lose my weight...i light people even im eat a lot
Heys,
Deletethat solely depends on whether you like your body as it is or not !^^
I found this blog post really interesting to read ^_^. I'm Chinese and about 168 cm. I gained weight this year. I was never super skinny I was around 53 kg but now I'm 56 kg. I'm wondering if I could get my weight down to lower than 53kg? No lower than 50 kg because in America you have to be at least 110 lbs to donate blood. Also is it okay to not weigh that little if I have OK proportions? Like a 25 in waist and long legs?
ReplyDeleteHey! and sorry for the late reply!!!
DeleteI think it's great that you consider the needs of others before your own vain goals!!! xD
I think you totally could get lower than 53 no problem at all! And yes, proportions are everything, it's actually totally not about the number on the scale, but PROPORTIONS ONLY!
So as long as you like your proportions, ditch the stupid scale!
You go girl!
