A place for every of your comments, questions, etc
UPDATES!!! Ruined my eyes writing 3 fashion posts (and that hairstyle post for you guys!!! Hope they are good for something!
Was too lazy to revise or check my writing in the end, so if you see some terribly embarassing spelling mistakes, yeah.. I really am that stupid!

I want to revamp the whole layout, add 2 posts about putting together an outfit and 'trends and staples', but not this lyfe man!
Oh yeah.. how do the new posts load? I know a shitload of pictures, but I don't compromise, pick up your wifi game!

  1. hi there, first, i just want to say that this is a very interesting blog and i like it, but it also makes me really sad to see people of all races going through such things just for a materialistic goal. as an asian thats proud of her muscles, her face, her body and herself, idk why but i feel so ashamed to be part of a race of people that are desperately trying to look like one image. it makes me so sad. while caucasians and other races have their own perks, as an asian this really hurts me the most.

not ever saying that your blog is a negative influence or that it is a bad blog, in fact its quite eye opening in some ways, but the fact that it is eye opening makes me upset at the length that asians are willing to go to look "caucasian" (which idk if i believe or not) or their ideal of the perfect beauty.

    1. hey, thanks for your comment

I understand where you're coming from. and thinking about it, it's really sad that it is so difficult for Asians to accept their own beauty.

I don't think it's 'such' a bad thing though. For humans it's only natural to have an ideal, the Western world is just too influential and especially Asians are so highly competitive.
We don't have that 'embrace your own beauty'-culture like westerners have, so everyone is constantly trying to 'better themselves' following a globally leading image.

I would also say that with this globalisation also comes a new way of thinking, where Asian women do appreciate their own beauty after all. it's because catwalk models don't look like ulzzangs or idols that there is a growing number of Asian women who find their monolids or cheek bones beautiful.
though the majority still likes the 'classic' kind of beauty more, I think that those who recognize their own beauty and are confident about it are more than years ago, when Asia was overwhelmed by Western culture....

I also wouldn't say that Asians really want to look (completely) Caucasian. It is a convenient generalisation, which means bigger eyes, small higher nose, small face, boobs, ass, etc
Still ulzzangs or idols have something to their own (be it only because it is impossible to turn sb into a copy of megan fox, even if that person were Caucasian to begin with).
What I want to say is that there still exists some kind of own 'Asian' beauty, which is again hard to imitate by Western people (speaking of white/ latino/ etc ulzzangs) and I would say that Asians are proud of it.
And when having to chose between looking like Scarlett Johansson or Yoona I dare to say that Korean/ Asian girls would chose Yoona.

With that said, of course there is something wrong about all of this when children don't play with 'ugly' children (ugly as in 'not white enough') or when kids get a new nose as a birthday present.
This is something which makes me more upset.

I don't really mind superficiality, as long as parents still teach their kids about other values than a v-shape.

again thanks for your comment, it is really refreshing to hear such opinions, too!
I really don't intend to influence people much, just wanted to gather information about this topic for already influenced people haha.

      have a great day! xxx

  3. I am 5'5'' (165 cm) and 130 lbs (58 kg). How much would I have to weigh to fit into the "ulzzang ideal"? I would like to lose a few pounds, and there are many things to strive for, including this ideal.

    1. Heys,

I'm busy fml.... I've been only answering questions.

yeah 48 would still be ok, really depends on your body. Still, overthink what's 'enough' for you before every decision and I might add that being thin like a stick isn't pretty at all (ulzzang or not) (not saying that you are/ would be too skinny though).

      good luck!

  5. Hi, it's me again. In the beginning my weight really wouldn't budge i might have lost about a kilo or 2 and i was at 49kg, but then after 3 weeks i suddenly lost 4kg. So i'm at 45-46kg right now. My point being, i was just wondering if it is normal for that to happen?
Also after losing more weight my skin became dryer (?) if that makes sense.
But after all i guess i'm finally happy now with my body.

    1. Heys!
So glad to hear you pulled it off!!!

And I don't know why your body was reacting like that. If it wasn't something about what you ate or some (sportitive) actions that you (subconsciously) did, then I'd say every body is different and a very complicated thing.
      I don't think it's too unnormal anyways !^^

Certain form of nutritions can promote dry skin, like too little Vitamin C and A (but google for yourself if you're interested), maybe that's the cause?
It might also be the lack of fat.
I'd definitely take care of my vitamins if I were you, but fat? I'd eat or not eat as much or little fat as I like !^^

But it could also be that you're living on the Norther Hemisphere and since winter is approaching it's getting colder, so you skin is just gets dry? It might be a new thing to happen, but such is our body - complicated.

      Anyway, use moisturizer!
      Take care, too!!!

    2. Hello~ still the same person from two comments ago (i'm sorry, i feel like i'm spamming you) How have you been?? After I wrote the last comment which was about a week ago i lost 2 more kgs, i'm not sure how to feel about that, but the thing is i didn't do any extreme diets at all, just reduced my intake and tried not to eat as much ice cream as usual. I would want to consult a doctor, but i'm scared (?) not only that but i feel completely fine, maybe even better then before.

So,i'm at 43-44kg right now, and when i think about 170cm and 43kg my weight is seems to be pretty low by the numbers, but what the mirror shows is completely fine (?)

Thanks for the vitamin and moisturiser advice too, my skin is much better now~

      Take care :)

    3. Heys,
      I've been fine thank you!

And you don't spam at all, I've set this blog up especially because I felt like it would be good to discuss things like this with others. Also I find it very thoughtful of you to be so careful and concerned with your body and having a 3rd opinion is always better.

Well, 43 kg and 170cm are really more on the more extreme side, and I can totally understand why you'd feel scared to go to a doctor.
The only way I can think of to provide you with some useful opinion is when you share honestly what you have been eating since you started your weight loss and include any other activities helped you to lose weight.

A few other things which might shed a light on your situation are: does your scale work right (sounds silly, but I've been there), are you really 170cm (well, 169 or 168 and 43 sounds much better hahaha).
Or have any of your friends, family members or anyone else expressed some 'extreme' remark about your new diet, weight, body, weight loss?
Thirdly, before we start to panic it would also be a good idea to observe your situation catiously for another week or two and see what your body does? Let's say it stays at 43 and you feel (and live) completely normal, then really ditch what the scale says. It could also be that you are going to gain some weight back, just because - no reason.
And if it further declines, I guess it would be advisable to consult with people who are really close to you and eventually a doctor (and actually, there shouldn't be anything going wrong with that, if you are really feeling all well !^^)

Ok, that's all I can tell you for now!
You take care and never hesitate to ask for aid!!!

    4. Hello~
      How's everything??

Hehe, in fact i'm 171cm to be exact and still growing :(( and i cant be 100% sure my scale is accurate but i'm sure i started off at 51kg since that was measured at the doc's and i'm also sure i lost weight. My friends did get worried (?) but i assured them that when i start feeling weird, i'd go visit a doctor or do something about it. So did my mother worry since i lost 8kg in a month, but she thinks it's just genetics since most of the women in our family are already considered "small" in general. I never thought i would worry about 0.3kg but when i told you, the scale read 43.1 and now i'm at 42.8 which isn't big of a difference but the 3 just disappeared!! Again i really don't mind about how i look right now, i'm technically satisfied - i mean i prefer this over 48kg - and i'm felling pretty well, i don't feel tired!

What have i been eating..? I guess before, when i was 51kg i would always, and i mean always crave ice cream - and got it because i had no self control - and i guess i just felt bad about it (?) so in the beginning i thought i would just get down to 48kg, but i wasn't satisfied with the result. So i set my goal further to 45kg and was pretty happy, but then during the week where i didn't really diet i got down to 43kg which i don't really mind, but it just seems weird.

But on my "diet" what i did was that i already ate a small variety of foods - i'm very picky - so my choice of foods always revolves around the same stuff - i'm so picky it would be easy for me to list the only fruits and vegetables i eat - I didn't work out much, i was very busy with studies and whatnot, i worked out like 3-4 times a week (?) and about an hour to an hour and a half everytime, but my workouts are just intensified/concentrated dance since i do dance as a hobby. For food i cut out majority of sugars and drank a ton of tea which was the only thing i did, i didn't skip any meals since i only ate 3 times a day in total, counting snacks. I'm also a pescetarian and if i had to pick a favourite food of mine, it would be salmon, and i feel like that's the only thing that kept me going. I'm not a fan of veggies at all - the only, and by only, i mean ONLY veggies i eat are carrots, lettuce, olives (?), onion <3, and mushroom in soup form.

All the clothes that i bought when i thought my weight would be stable at 48kg dont even want to hang around my waist and hips anymore too~ When i dropped to 45kg i would wear a belt - although if i wore pants they would look awkwardly big on me in the leg area - but now if i wear them it looks like i took my boyfriend's pants and put them on and they already were the smallest size available in that store - sometimes i wonder why plus size people get their own stores but we just get normal stores whose smallest size don't fit - so i don't know what to do about that. Do i stick with my oversized pants? - i don't mind about the shirts, sweaters..etc - or is there something else i don't know about.. I heard if you're too small for shop sizes you should just wear leggings, but man these stuff aren't bottoms, they show everythingggg. So up to now i have just been wearing dresses - also of which don't fit me in the arm and torso area - but these dresses are in for now, but it's getting colddd, so i have to find a way to warm up because from what i know dresses aren't the best way from protecting yourself from getting sick.

I'm sorry i know you're not a professional, but it's nice saying everything to someone who you don't know in your personal life and is nice and friendly at the same time - which is rare and i really appreciate that - Thanks a lot for your support and advice, i hope we can stay in contact for a little longer~

    5. Hi again!

still growing? could you still be going to puberty or not? haha if yes, it might be a growth spurt sort of thing?

As for your diet, if I got you right, we could sum it up as: you stopped eating ice cream, reduced sugar, drank a lot more tea + dancing, everything else was the same as always?
*That* doesn't sound alarming to me.

I guess it's still advisable to observe your weight for 1- 2 weeks more and if it really continues to drop for no reason, you should go and see a doctor. You could also try and google 'weight loss no reason' and see what could be the cause, cuz it's not only about weight loss.

As for clothes, you are actually kinda too tall, but I think maybe the children's departments of some stores have nice clothes, like H&M or Zara. I also have a few of their items and often they are not childish at all and cheaper than the same item in the respective 'adult's department'.
Also well-sorted stores stock jeans in really a variety of sizes, especially 'more expensive' brands offer jeans in really small model-sizes like 23 (ex. Acne). You can also shop online, because there you'll have a broader range of everything. But I know the pain, on the top it doesn't matter if the things are too big, but as for bottoms, they either slide right down or if 'belted up' too much, look weird at the crotch area.

      Hope that helps!
So let's agree on watching how everything will turn out in the next week(s)!
And thanks for your kinds words!!!
      Take care xxx

    6. Hello~

It's been a long while, how has it been?? exams and assignments, it's frustrating, you know stress and all.. i must say that i've missed you although we didn't have many connections but it was nice talking to someone who can help and understand without criticism. And about the blog, should i be anticipating any updates or are you too busy(?) -i mean no pressure-

i'm still at 43kg and i don't really mind anymore - except for clothes ofc -, i went to Korea for the winter holidays hoping that i could find my size since Korean sizes are smaller, but the smallest sizes didn't fit me very well. I liked it there, had so much fun, it's definitely a must visit again place.

As for the doctor, i went there since i had some throat problems so they had to weigh me and it was a solid 43kg they were a little unsure about weather i'm naturally like that but i just beat around the bush.

As for the diet change - sorry i'm not replying in order - by saying 'drinking a lot of tea' i meant replacing dinner and breakfast with tea, but now i returned to my usual diet and i'm not gaining anything but i learnt just waiting to gain weight is just a waste of time; i don't bother anymore.

I tried with Acne, but somehow they still fit weirdly, anything that is supposed to be skin tight aren't really skin tight but i had other options and styles to choose from besides having to wear belts and it taking a lone time for me to use the bathroom but i can live with it.

Also, can you recommend me any BB creams since i'm running out of my usual one and wanted to try something new(?)

Take care~ (and even if you don't update the blog at least keep me updated about how you are!!)

  6. Hi there Ailing Chu, I'm just turned 15, I'm 157cm and weigh around 50kg. How much should I lose? I was around 54-55kg around the start of the year. I've been eating less but does that mean I'll have to eat tiny portions for the rest of my life to maintain it? It'll be great if u could give me a calorie intake recommendation. Thanks <3 I really hope u see this <3

    1. Heys,

I normally see every comment haha

I'm just doing some BMI value from ulzzang BMI to your height and corresponding weight, so I think go down to 45 at first.
Then depending on whether you like it you can stay at 45 or go lower even....

Ermm... about the tiny portions... well yes? I guess so. Or try to compensate it with enough sports to burn the redundant cals....
But I guess you/ we will partly get used to tiny portions.
When you have reached your goal weight, you could try to find a portion size that would make you neither gain nor lose weight, which would be more than the tiny portions you are eating now.

I'm afraid I don't know what to recommend you as a good calorie value, since it depends on how active you are and on how your metabolism works, which is different for everybody.

Let me tell you this, I know that official, serious adult diet guides that are targeted at normal people who want to go from overweight to normal and not from whatever to ulzzang-underweight say you need about 1300 cals a day, right? (or was it 1000?)
Well, if I were to eat 1300 a day, I'd look like idk who's fat in kpop? ALi?
As for me, a person who does nothing all day, except dragging her body to school and home, no sports at all, I'd say I need less than 500 a day to lose weight.
There you have it. Quite nothing hahahaha

Which doesn't mean I'm telling you to only eat 500 a day (your parents will kill me), but you can kinda see the different scales of a 'diet calorie intake'.
Just try it out for yourself and you'll find out pretty quickly!

    2. Apparently people slowly increase their calorie intake after they reach their goal weight but idk if that'll work for me or I'll just gain it all back. Would you know anything about it? Most people just create a deficit of 500 calories a day to lose it safely. I'm also worried if it'll stunt my growth since I'm so short. Thanks for replying <3

      Delete
    3. well if you just look at the matter logically, then there's an amount of calories that'll make you gain weight, an amount that won't affect your weight (I mean before you started your diet, you weren't gaining and gaining weight, weren't you? Your daily calorie intake was an amount which led to a certain weight and maintained it), and there's amount which results in weight loss.
Of course in reality it's not so simple, but it should more or less work...

A deficit of 500 cals sounds good, but this is what I mean with 'in reality it's no so simple', I don't know if that would work for me... or maybe it would work, but were too slow for me.

If you are really worried about your height, then don't focus too much on dieting but more on sports and stuff !^^

    1. Oh ermm... guess it depends on your 'weight loss deficit amount' and how your body reacts to it

If your body loses weight easily then you could increase more carelessly and a bigger amount
if your body is very intolerant towards every single calorie then you'd have to be more careful

I think you will develop a feeling for this over the course of

Just eat a certain amount of food more that you guess or feel will be ok and see what your body/ scale says next morning.
If it was too much reduce, if it wasn't try even more.

Like depending on your body built 165 and 47 sound quite good. But 45 or even less could also be ok for that height.

The amount of calories depends on your body built and daily activities, so I can't really tell.

      Delete
    2. Thanks. I wish I could get taller. :(

      Delete
    3. 165 is honestly quite tall for an ulzzang imo. Like it's really quite upper limit.

I know there are idols who are taller and quite popular, but in think it's more girls who hype their height not the guys.
Girls are more the persons to go 'she's so tall like a westerner!' Or 'she could be a catwalk model in America!'

But as for Korean guys I think, as 1) most of them aren't so tall and are very proud and easily wounded in that aspect, 2) those who are tall really like being more tall than others and 3) the country is still some what conservative regarding some things, e.g. 4) they like cute, demure girls Korean guys rather prefer girls who aren't that tall, but notable shorter than themselves.

So say you're 170, add 10cm for the high heels (and 10cm heels are really not that hugh) and you're 180. Many guys (not only Korean) are not significantly taller than 180. Depending on both of your poses you might even appear taller than him.

That's why unless you really mean it in a 'western way' 165 is absolutely fine for an ulzzang.

    1. Hey,

thanks for your kinds words and that interesting questions which is very unlike most I receive! ^^

Your Korean friends are right, the whole ulzzang thing is actually over ever since the rise of real smartphones and serious social media platforms I'd say.

I'm sure you know what ulzzang means - 'best face'; I think the trend began with the popularization of the internet among teens and the beginning of social media, really quite some years back.

So I think the whole ulzzang thing began when teens started to own their own mobile phones - not smartphones - and started to take selfies and posting them on the internet/ sns platforms - like cyworld in Korea (I think cyworld is pretty much dead now). Those with pretty faces were extremely popular and thus crowned 'ulzzang'.
But this trend has just faded over the years - I can't exactly pinpoint a reason for this, but it was just a trend maybe? Ppl got over those ulzzangs, other things gained popularity, like an increasing number of more nifty kpop (girl) groups, it just becamse so 'yesterday'.
      Does that make sense?

Another way to look at it is defining 'ulzzang' as a certain 'beauty ideal' which has changed:
      http://www.koreaboo.com/photo/the-past-generation-of-ulzzangs-has-grown-up-heres-how-they-look-now/
If you look at the earlier images of those mentioned, you will see that their style was more about being mega cute, and those gigantic pitch black circle lenses... also bangs used to be more popular and full.
Now people look more sophisticated, feminine and natural.

But I think the main explanation would be that it was more a trend than a look. Even now if sb looked exactly like in the past, you wouldn't call them ulzzang, just because people are over it.
Maybe it's easier to explain with western trends/ looks, like emo, scene girls or gangster style? Imagine it like this: It's as if, when now sb dressed as a scene girl or emo, nobody would call them 'scene girl' anymore, but just say 'she has a weird/ cool style' and in Korea not 'she's an ulzzang' but 'she's pretty'.

Why do we still use this word then?
Well the word just spread across the global fan community and got stuck ever since. I don't know why others still use it, but I use it because
      1) for those who use it, to find this blog
      2) as a phrase to describe this certain beauty ideal that I want to talk about. I cannot just say 'In order to look Korean' or 'Koreans typically have a v-shape' because that's simply not true
(Koreans can simply say 'how to look pretty' or 'pretty girls have a vshape', we cannot say 'how to look pretty' because 'pretty' here means as many things as Nicki Minaj, Kim, Khloe, Kylie, Kendall, Angelina Jolie, Cara Delevigne, Miranda Kerr, etc, etc)
      3) as a catchphrase. The word 'ulzzang' still has a powerful impact as a 'radical aesthetic set of goals and criteria' nearly a way of life

      So is it gone? Yes.
And no - things could have gone different and Koreans could have decided to call currently popular, pretty instagram girls 'ulzzang'.
The thing with being 'fame' because of your looks is still there (although not as obvious as back then, when the internet was less crowded, ppl were uglier and the community smaller.

I hope that answers your question!
If not then please don't hesitate to ask more... I know my answer is kinda confusing and not very precise xD

    1. not sure I'm super busy having a good time haha

food is/ can be super cheap here, like there are really cheap restaurants which sell authentic korean food

as for vegetarian, I guess it depends on how much effort you want to put it
I know 1 vegetarian who gave up cuz I guess he doesn't want to cook and eating out can be tricky? Most dishes are with meat, but e.g. ramyun doesn't necessarily has meat...
They have kimbab, and I'm sure there must be versions w/o meat out there

But I know several other vegetarians who manage to do it, I'm quite sure it's manageable to eat vegetarian at restaurants, even those small Korean ones with only ahjummas working there (I'm not sure however if you tell them 'no meat', they get that meat broths, etc also count)
So yeah, but if you want to cook on your own, vegetables are quite expensive and there are no real supermarkets around in town, or near any dormitory or university I know of. Most are more like convenience stores which offer a limited amount of vegetables.
The bigger ones are quite far away, but I've never been to any. My friends have though, but I don't know what they are like.

So all in all, 1 of my friends gave up, many more I know are still vegetarian... They might have had meat in some way or another maybe (without knowing) but they still live vegetarian. So I guess it's ok-ish!

      Hope I could help you!

  15. heyyy! so im assuming you're an university student on exchange? if so, does your uni record lectures?/do uni's in korea general record classes? im thinking of applying for exchange over there but im not too sure since i usually rely on lecture recordings to study properly hahah. also, are you living at the school dorm or outside the school? i feel like while living in a school dorm is so much cheaper and gives you more of a chance to interact with other students, im not a big fan of sharing a room with someone else and having curfew hours etc. what are your thoughts? lastly, what's the fashion scene like at uni? are most students somewhat dressed up, or are they in trackpants/leggings and a hoodie?
    Thanks!
p.s - do you know where to buy magazines from in seoul? my friend's going over to seoul in a few weeks and i want her to get me a copy of 'the star magazine' but when i went last year, i could barely find magazines unless it was those fashion ones :/

    1. I'm an exchange!
I guess unis don't record lectures, at least not for mine. There are classes which are partially online tho~ you watch the lecture online and come to class to discuss or so... but that's only a few and of course they have to be approved by your uni or sth like that. But usually they don't record classes and actually take attendance for each class very carefully, it's even part of your grade.

I'm staying at the dormitory.. and yeah curfew is a bit of an issue, mine is from 1-5 am~ I feel like if you plan to go clubbing/ drinking time flies by very fast, but if you're just late, you have to be careful to not miss the last trains/ get a cab.... has not really been an issue for me tho~ sharing is more of an issue tho~ the room, but also washing machines or food (apparently some get their stuffs stolen). then again some don't even have a kitchen or fridge....
living outside is not necessarily more expensive~ I heard from many that it's much cheaper, but the deposit is super high. For dormitory, rent is high, since you don't have depository~
Well, for me, I'm glad I staying at the dormitory, since I don't make contact with new people easily, and I think it made me find friends slightly easier. But it depends, like my roommate is rarely there and she only hangs with her friends, and also I know people staying on their own and they have no such issue as 'no friends' haha If I return for another semester, I'd like to stay outside tho~ sometimes you just need to be alone 'for sure' - like not 'worrying' that sometime will enter the room any time xD

lastly fashion, I haven't seen girls super dressed up, like 'rich bitch style', I have seen 1 or 2 guys who are kinda terribly edgy though xD leggings and hoodie is not a rare sight either, but it still looks put together. Generally Koreans all look put together, never slouchy. Girls like to look nicely, some look a bit 'business woman like' with a bit of an heel, some rather edgy, sporty. It doesn't look like a collection of online shop models, or MV scene tho xDD

I'm not too sure about 'the star'.... I'm pretty sure I have seen kpop magazines in book stores and today I saw an ahjumma selling regular newspapers along with 'High Cut' at a subway station today haha
still hope I could help you !^^

  16. hello, hope you're doing well! i was wondering if i could get some help/advice. im trying to lose weight by eating less and working out more, but i feel like whenever i workout, i end up being slightly more 'bulky' especially in the thigh area. im already on the bulkish side since i used to play competitive sport when i was younger but im struggling to slim down my body into a more petite size. i feel like the only way to slim down is to cut my calories way down (~500ish) but im about to go on holidays so i'll be around my parents so i can't really do that. do you have any advice or workout suggestions??
    thanks! :)))
p.s - hypothetically, if i workout and eat clean (plant-based) everyday - how much do you think i can lose in a month? (im stuck on 57kgs). its about 4 weeks, do you think 2kgs per week is doable? i want to aim for that but im not sure how 'extreme' ill have to go with diet and exercise for that - but then again, im on holidays so i suppose it could be doable? haha

    1. Hello,
I'm great thank you!!! And sorry for the late reply!

Well, if you get bulky in the thigh area, don't do any exercise which would build muscle there. What form of workout do you do? Cardio? Or weights? (For losing weight you'd have to build muscle, so weights, so maybe focus on arms)
If you wanted to be petite, I think I agree with you, it's about eating a lot less. Since you're with your parents, you should eat a lot of food with little calories, like veg. Like that it will still look like you eat normally, while your calorie intake is lower. Unless there's a gym, I think it's hard to train with weights. But another way to exercise muscles is pilates or yoga, so you could try to do those. But I think over a short time span, dieting is more effective.

2kg per week is possible - if you a very consequent!!! For me that would be1 minimal meal per day! like 1 sandwich or so if I don't exercise (or pretty much move at all.
So you see, depending on your body type 2kg per week can be pretty extreme. I think when I go to school or move more throughout the day, I will be 1kg or slightly more lighter every morning, so on each day I have to make sure to not gain that weight back.. So far I've never managed to capitalise on that fact, that's why the most I could do is maybe 2kg+ per week (also I have a feeling that my metabolism is slower than it used to be~ haha)
That means, try to weigh yourself every morning and then observe how your intake your evening and next morning weight and plan your diet (and workout) according to that!

Hope I could help you and good luck!!!
      xx

  17. Hey Ailing! I love your blog! It's really neat, clean, and has lots of information on Ulzzangs, and just Koreans in general. It is my go-to blog when I want to find out about something ulzzang ^^
So, to get to the point, I don't know if you're still answering others, but if you are, I have a question to make about my weight and dieting.
I'm 14 (almost 15), and just about 5"2/157cm and 120lbs/54kg. I was always a bit on the heavier side in my family T_T
I definitely plan on losing weight, so could I get your advice on dieting?? But here's where the complications come in: I'm not a good dieter, as I detest almost all vegetables (except corn and potatoes... but those are grains, right?), and they make me gag from the taste, even when it's "hidden" in other foods. It's made dieting pretty hard for me, as vegetables are an essential in every diet plan I've seen... One good thing though is that I do like almost all fruits, fish, and lean meats. But, another con is that I also like junk food. I've tried to resist my cravings for junk food, replace them with other foods that taste like it, and use other tricks I've seen online that are said to help with cravings and motivation, and while they work sometimes, I end up giving in eventually. I have low willpower T_T
    Maybe I don't want it enough?? Because I don't end up feeling that bad when I see I've gained weight from all the bad stuff I've eaten. But, what do you think? Maybe you can help a bit with this T_T Anyway, thanks for reading ^^;

    1. Heyy Gina,
      thanks for your nice comment!
I still answer questions and am also happy to help!

First of all I think you should really make up your mind whether you want to change your body or not. Some like to have a lean body and sacrifice good food, but some just can't bother and rather enjoy a nice meal! For me, I tend to go from one to the other hahaha
So when you are ok with your body, or can live with the consequences in exchange for something yummy, why bother?
Or is it that you somehow try to ignore or sugar-coat your 'low willpower'? You have to really come to a solid conclusion first, before going on. Really take your time to come to a decision. Only with a firm resolution can you be determined and committed.

Let's say you do want to lose weight. You said you have two main problems.
Well, about veggies. Veggies are a good way to diet, since they are relatively low in calories compared to other food. But I think the main part is to avoid (bad) carbs. So focus on that!
Still I'd suggest that you somehow find a way to like veg? I don't know, like some people detest a certain food throughout their childhood but now they like it? (For me that would be butter haha) Do you hate veg both raw and cooked? How about salads? Do you hate tomatoes? I think cherry tomatoes make a good snack? Or cucumbers.. they taste like nothing? haha

As for cravings... I mentioned in my diet post that a good way to avoid them is - don't ever buy them! Don't have any junk food in your house! Only have healthy food, that you can snack on unlimitedly when you have a craving (you can google 0 calorie food - I think many are veg, but there are also some fruits I think) and sweet food/ fruits, for when your body is sugar deprived.
When you find yourself buying junk food whenever you are out - don't bring any money! You might end up asking your friends to lend you some, but you can't do that all the time, cuz it will make you feel embarrassed and annoy your friends xD, so eventually you just have to settle and survive without it. Maybe a good way to motivate or reward your for this is, collect the money that you would have spend on junk food and eventually buy something worthwhile with it?

I also have huge problems with motivation, but I learnt that some things just take time. As for weight loss, I think it's a process of trial and error, and for most of us it takes several attempts until we finally pull through!
Also working on willpower is a nice task of self-improvement which is fun and rewarding to tackle in general, not only for weight loss, but also for school, work or anything in life!

I hope that you can come to a decision which truly reflects who you are and who you want to be! No matter what, try living and eating healthy and grow into a determined person /inserts cheesy smile
